Nashville Predators  Vs. Minnesota Wild

Both teams were in action yesterday, so there’s no advantage to one team. While I’m not crazy about this game, there is some value we should be looking at.

Let’s start with the Wild, specifically their top line of Kirill Kaprizov, Joel Eriksson-Ek and Mats Zuccarello. They are good, and with Jusse Saros probably getting the night off, this line could dominate from start to finish and score some goals. Eriksson-Ek did nothing last night, but we can forgive him for one off game. I’d pair him with Kaprizov and move on.

In goal, Kaapo Kahkonen is $7300 on DraftKings, which is a gift considering just how awful the Predators’ offence is. They didn’t deserve to score four against Winnipeg yesterday, and against a much better defensive team like the Wild, they may not score more than two. Kahkonen should be able to hit value easily here and is my top cash game goalie.

For Nashville, there’s nothing that I like. Their top line isn’t worth it, and I’m not going to move down the lineup. There’s enough value elsewhere to target .

Detroit Red Wings Vs. Chicago Blackhawks

Imagine giving up six goals to a team that had only scored four total in five games. That’s exactly what the Detroit Red Wings did yesterday against Montreal. They looked really bad, and I don’t think it gets better in this one.

For Chicago, Alex DeBrincat and Kirby Dach is where we should be spending our money. With Patrick Kane out of the lineup due to COVID-19, the Blackhawks are going to learn very heavily on DeBrincat and company, and that’s perfectly fine with me.

If you’re feeling spicy, Seth Jones is an option to consider. He’s playing on the top power play unit, but he hasn’t done much in five games. The matchup on paper is good, but he’s not shooting the puck enough, and he isn’t known for blocking shots. His $6500 price tag is also up there, but that could help keep his ownership low in most GPPs.

On the flip side, Tyler Bertuzzi should make his return to the lineup and retake his spot on the top line. Kevin Lankinen is expected to get the start tonight, but I’m still comfortable rolling Bertuzzi and Lucas Raymond out there. You can add Dylan Larkin to the mix, but a winger-winger stack is more affordable, and is where I’d focus most of my energy.

Moritz Seider is expected to skate on the top power play unit with Bertuzzi and Raymond. His $4K price tag on DK is steep, but he’s still affordable and the upside is there. I would go with all three in a small GPP.

New York Islanders Vs. Vegas Golden Knights

The Islanders were in action last night against the Arizona Coyotes, and they did not impress. Yes they won 3-0, but they struggled for large parts of that game to generate offence, and we shouldn’t feel confident using them against a banged up Vegas team.

Speaking of Vegas, Nolan Patrick and Evgeni Dadonov is where we should be focusing our efforts. The top line just hasn’t been good, and the second line is meh, so move down to two players who played well against Edmonton on Friday. Both players also skate together on the second power play unit and are below $3500 on DK.

I’m not crazy about paying up for Alex Pietrangelo, but with so many discount options available, we can spend up here and hope he delivers. Ideally, we would pair Shea Theodore with Dadonov-Patrick, but he hasn’t been good to start the season, and without the shot volume, his upside is just too limited. Is Pietrangelo better? Not by much, but we know he can shoot and block shots, and that’s what we’re hoping to get from him tonight.

In goal, Robin Lehner is $7K on DK, which is too low for a goalie of his caliber. I know he’s been terrible to start the season, but we can’t ignore him at that price. He’s my top GPP goalie on the slate.

For the Islander, Brock Nelson and Anthony Beauvillier is the combo I would look to play. They were good yesterday, and they could see an easy matchup tonight and flourish. You can also get both at a reasonable cost, so that’s an added bonus.

On the blue line, Noah Dobson came up big for those of you who took a chance on him. He was in the Playbook, and finished with one assist, four shots on goal and three blocked shots. He was one shot away from hitting the double bonus. He’s only $3K today, and continues to see time on the top power play unit. You can play him in any format you want.

In goal, Ilya Sorokin might get back-to-back starts. Should that be the case, he’s worth considering. The Golden Knights are hurt up front, and they just don’t look very good. His $8400 price tag is a steep one, but with so many value options to choose from, it should be easy to fit him into any lineup.
