Top MVP/Captain Plays

Bryce YoungBAMAUGA1590029.531700028.56
The Tide’s Heisman-winning QB will be a popular Captain not only because of his name brand and national recognition, but also since he put up 421 passing yards, three TDs and 41 DK on Georgia in the SEC title game. Things might not be as easy in this rematch, but we can assume Bama will be throwing it more than running to give Young a higher floor. If you don’t play him as the Captain in cash, get Young into a FLEX spot.
Jameson WilliamsBAMAUGA1530025.141450022.53
Usually QBs are the way to go in the Captain spot, but not when you have a WR like Jameson Williams who can put up 40+ DFS points. In fact he’s done just that in three of the last five games, including a stat line of seven catches for 184 yards and two TD vs. UGA in the first meeting. With no John Metchie for Bama, expect Williams to see heavy target volume as a solid Captain or FLEX play.
Stetson BennettUGABAMA1500018.981400018.35
Since he’s a bit cheaper than Bryce Young, there’s a chance Bennett ends up being the most popular Captain play. There’s a decent chance this game turns into an offensive shootout where Bennett will be throwing more often to keep pace with the Bama attack. It happened in the SEC title game and the UGA QB finished with 27 DK on 340 passing yards and three TD.
Brock BowersUGABAMA1380017.861250014.6
If you want a cheaper Captain in GPPs (or cash possibly), then Bowers makes for an interesting choice. The tight end is Georgia’s top pass-catching weapon and should see plenty of targets to go along with some red-zone looks. If UGA trails in the second half, then Bowers will have a nice floor/ceiling combo - like when he had 10 catches, 139 receiving yards, a TD and 33 DK in the SEC title game.

Top UTIL/FLEX Plays

PlayerTeamOpp.DK $DK FPPGFD $FD FPPG
Brian Robinson Jr.BAMAUGA980022.671200020.8
People may avoid Robinson Jr. since he’s facing the stout Georgia run defense that held him to 55 rushing yards on 16 carries in the first meeting. However, the upside for 100+ total yards and multiple TDs is always there for the Bama lead back. It makes him more of a GPP play on this showdown slate, but Robinson is also a contrarian Captain option as well.
James CookUGABAMA820013.51100011.17
The DFS floor isn’t great for Cook in a split UGA backfield against a solid Alabama run D, especially if the offense is throwing more often like it did in the SEC title game. However, Cook is the better pass-catching back than Zamir White and that raises his upside/floor a bit more. He had 112 receiving yards and a receiving score in the semifinal and had four grabs in the previous meeting vs. Bama.
Ja'Corey BrooksBAMAUGA64005.9280003.27
With John Metchie out for the season, Brooks stepped up in the semifinal game with four catches for 66 yards and a TD. Even though he was barely involved in the Tide offense this season, the true freshman is now in a prime position to show he can be the next great Bama wideout. He looks like one of the better values on this slate - especially if the offense is throwing more often.
Slade BoldenBAMAUGA58006.3975004.41
Bolden is the other Bama WR who’s stepping into a larger role with John Metchie out. He’s actually been a solid possession receiver as the team’s third-best pass-catcher for much of this season, but the targets now increase with Bolden and Brooks being the next men up. In the semifinal game with Metchie out, Bolden had three catches for 31 yards and a TD.

Value UTIL/FLEX Plays

Ladd McConkeyUGABAMA50008.4485007.79
The Georgia pass-catchers outside of Brock Bowers are tough to trust in cash, but McConkey has flashed at times this season and has a better connection with Stetson Bennett than the other UGA receivers. He scored a TD in the SEC title game vs. Alabama and could get a few catches to return value at some cheap price tags.
Will ReichardBAMAUGA46009.5
On the DK slate, it’s very plausible to use one or both kickers as values to save salary and lock in 15-20 combined points. Obviously if it’s a defensive low-scoring game or there are missed kicks, then the kickers are useless. But the slightly high over/under and close spread suggests both kickers will play a solid role. Reichard has put up 8+ DK in five straight games and could easily give you double-digit DK points.
Jack PodlesnyUGABAMA44009.43
As just mentioned with Will Reichard above, the kickers are firmly in play on the DK slate as values. Georgia’s Jack Podlesny is arguably the better per-dollar option since he’s the kicker for the favorite. He’s shown a floor of 6 DK points and has double-digits in seven of the last 11 contests. It’s worth mentioning the dome environment will be favorable to kickers tonight.
George PickensUGABAMA32003.1765003.04
When healthy, Pickens is one of the more talented WRs in college football and can smash value at these cheap prices. The only problem is he’s recently returned from a torn ACL suffered in the spring and hasn’t made much of an impact in the three games back. Still, he’s worth a shot in GPPs because a couple long gains or a TD would be nice at low rostership.
Cameron LatuBAMAUGA20007.1470006.71
The DFS floor isn’t great for the Alabama tight end, but the possibility of catching a TD and returning value is definitely there. Latu scored in the semifinal game and has seven receiving TDs on the season - the second-most among healthy Tide pass-catchers with Metchie is out. He’s been more involved as a receiver than fellow TE Jahleel Billinglsey, though he’s an interesting punt play too.
