If Friday showed us anything, it is that there is nothing that is a guarantee in high level League of Legends. Most assumed Cloud9 was going to come in as lifeless as they had performed in the first half of the Round Robin and FunPlus Phoenix looked like the weakest team in the group by far. Today we get another opportunity to see titans rise to the top or the underdogs scrap their way to org defining wins. With six electric matches on the slate, a lot of options for outcomes lay on the table. So let’s dive in!

Cann’s Final Prediction for Group A

  1. Edward Gaming (5-1, win off of Tiebreaker)
  2. T1 Esports (5-1)
  3. 100 Thieves (2-4)
  4. Detonation FocusMe (0-6)

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain

Favorite: Scout (EDG: $11,400) This World Championship is shaping up to be career defining and that is very true for Scout. He has taken a group with some of the most recognizable mid laners and put them in body bags. He has an 18 KDA with 2 total deaths in 3 games. He is proactive, involved, and also dictates fights in certain circumstances. EDG may struggle with T1, but 100 Thieves and DFM are nowhere near the level EDG/Scout is right now.

Value Pick: Closer (100T: $9,600)

Top Lane

Favorite: Flandre (EDG: $6,600) I think of all the EDG players, Flandre has been the most surprising. Now this isn’t a bad surprise but a good one. He showed that in lane flashy playstyle that League fans love to see from him. He has 33 kills and assists combined in 3 games which means high point generation for you in your lineups. Relatively low cost across the board for top laners, which means you can pick up a better player for cheap.

Value Pick: Canna (T1: $6,400)

Jungle

Favorite: JieJie (EDG: $7,200) There is no easier way to describe JieJie than just calling him what he is, a menace. He has an 84% team kill participation and a 26% team kill share percentage. He has put the likes of Oner and Closer in his back pocket and carried them around the rift with him. Look for EDG to continue to play through him and capitalize on the skill gap in the jungle and rack up big points on Saturday.

Value Pick: Oner (T1: $6,800)

Mid Lane

Favorite: Faker (T1: $7,200) Be clear about this pick, this is not the Faker from years past. He does not have the skill gap that he once had but that does not mean he is not a good pick up here. Only one team has picked up games against DWG in a best of series in the LCK and T1 is that team. Faker plays the utility mid champions and focuses on smart plays that translate into big payoffs for you. He has a 4.8 KDA through 3 games and 12 assists to his name. He limits his deaths (4 in 3 games) which should help limit you losing points in your lobbies.

Value Pick: Abbedagge (100: $7,000)

ADC

Favorite: Viper (EDG: $7,800) Deathless through three games and a constant focus of enemy teams that EDG faces. He has 11 kills and 21 assists with a 64% team kill participation percentage. Viper is a late game focus for EDG which is why you see the negative gold and XP numbers in lane but he explodes in the mid game with the clean teamfighting of EDG. I think some of the best ADCs in the world are in this group with FBI and Gumayusi. Viper is styling on both of them in the late game team fights.

Value Pick: FBI (100: $7,200)

Support

Favorite: Keria (T1: $5,400) Highest skill ceiling among supports on the slate. He has an understanding of both laning and macro movements that is a foundation of T1’s success. Gumayusi is a young player and needs a lot of support and Keria is perfect for the job. I also love the fact that Keria has a 67% first blood participation rate, he is active early and often which is great for DFS.

Value Pick: huhi (100: $5,000)

Team

Favorite: Edward Gaming ($5,200)  EDG has the best kill to death ratio (2.78) and the second best mid to late game rating (41.8). They have a 83% baron control rate as well as a 33% control rate on herald. They gain control of the map early and roll that into huge leads for the late game. Look for Scout and JieJie to push and bully the enemy mid laner, establish control over the game, and choke the enemy out of resources.

Value Pick: T1 Esports ($5,000)
