World Championship Finals

November 6th, 2021

(-145) Damwon Gaming KIA v EDward Gaming (+110)

This is it! Almost an entire calendar year has passed since the 2021 season began with the LPL’s and LCK’s preseason tournaments in December of 2020 and now in November of 2021, we are at the precipice of crowning a champion from one of those two regions. DWG have been the kings of League of Legends now for two years but they meet the challenge of one of the strongest Chinese teams we have ever seen. Who wins? Who performs? Who gets to etch their names into the history books? We all find out tomorrow morning but for now, I give you a full breakdown to help you get ready for the action!

Cann’s Pick:  Damwon Gaming KIA v EDward Gaming: DWG Win 3-1

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain (DWG)

Favorite: Ghost (DWG: $16,500) Ghost has made it his personal mission to silence the haters from the 2020 season. His biggest critiques is that he is normally along for the ride and more than content to be carried by teammates like Canyon and ShowMaker. In this tournament, he has 64 kills in 14 games with a KDA of 6.0 to boot. He has marginal leads in lane but when DWG transition into late game team fighting, the ADC from DWG comes online. Look for Ghost and BeryL to play safe for the first 10-15 minutes of each game and then explode in mid game teamfights.

Value Pick: Canyon (DWG: $14,400)

Captain

Favorite: ShowMaker (DWG: $15,600) The World’s best midlaners have all fallen at the feet of ShowMaker this year. Like Larssen, Perkz, Doinb, and lastly Faker; I fully expect Scout to be worked over in the mid lane on Saturday morning. Not only does ShowMaker have an 8.1 KDA, but also a 71% team kill participation rate. He roams, he secures kills, and he will snowball early lane wins into monstrous late game advantages for his team.

Value Pick: Viper (EDG: $15,900)

Flex

Favorite: Viper (EDG: $10,600) This may be the ticket for EDG to steal this series. The DWG bot lane of Ghost/BeryL are more passive in the earliest stages of the game and their jungler (Canyon) rarely makes his way to the bottom lane. Viper is a wild and loose player and can make or break late game teamfights. I think if he can find himself on aggressive champions that do not require peel from teammates, EDG can make the more of his technical skill in teamfights. We saw the T1 ADC (Gumayusi) have some success against DWG and he has a very similar play style to Viper.

Value Pick: Scout (EDG: $10,000)

Flex

Favorite: Flandre (EDG: $7,800) The EDG top laner could have an opportunity to make some big plays on Saturday. It is pretty well documented that this is Khan’s swan song before he has to fufil his military duties in Korea. With Khan possibly being emotional plus having a bit of a playstyle mismatch, Flandre could look to return to old form. EDG has him on the roster because of his tendency to play carry champions and take over a game. They will definitely need that from him and need him to build upon the 43 kills he is bringing into the series.

Value Pick: JieJie (EDG: $9,000)
