Welcome to the DFS Watch List for NFL Week 6!

Anyone else feel like like the NFL season is just flying by? I'm actually stunned we're already here at Week 6, but I guess time flies when you're having fun…and making money. We continue to see big winners each weekend and I'm even starting to see guys who had been struggling, now working their way into the green. I want to give a quick shout-out to Orangeman96 who has been chatting it up in our Discord channels, looking to improve his DFS game and has found some recent success. He's sticking to the process, reading the content, using the tools and talking through his choices with the #FAmily. While I won't say that he's going to be the next million-dollar winner, I can say that he is becoming a stronger DFS player and is building that bankroll up.

Now, obviously not everyone is cashing on the regular. We get that. I've spoken to a few of you who have reached out, looking to improve your game and we're going to do our very best in helping you along. A lot of it is contest selection more than it's your actual picks, so if you find yourself struggling, maybe changing the contests you play will help. For cash games, stick to the 50/50s. Everyone keeps jumping into the Double-Ups, but if you look at how many get paid out, you'll see that it's less than half the field. If you're playing the 50/50s while learning how to build lineups, you go into knowing that it's single-entry and all you need to do is beat half the people in the contest to cash. But be careful – you want to play in contests with 100 players. When you shorten the field to 20 or 50 players, you're actually hurting your odds to cash, especially when the lineup trains get more abundant. 100-player 50/50s is where I started and it really helped me build the bankroll while working on my lineup construction and picking players with higher floors rather than worrying about upside.

As for GPP, again, single-entry is where you want to live. And the fewer number of players, the better your chances. Often times, it requires a higher entrance fee, but there are plenty of contests out there which are affordable and have less players. Big fan of the Small Sweeps on FanDuel. Draft Kings raises the cost more and you're still competing against 600 people, but it's still better than trying to beat 600,000. Yahoo Fantasy is still growing their contests, but if you look early enough in the week, you can find contests that fit our criteria.

OK, so there's another lesson in contest selection. Playing this way may not be glamorous, but we want to win, right? So we crawl before we walk and we walk before we run. Now let's get to the Watch List, shall we? We start with last week's Playbook.

So what exactly did last week's Playbook deliver? As always, we like to check in to ensure we remain on the right path.

Scoring The Playbook Week 5

Injuries, inactives & crazy high scoring in many games threw off the analysis, but the Playbook & Dart Board still managed to deliver with a 215+ score and the highest scoring running back analysis in our history.

Here are the highlights:

  • Six of the seven running backs in the Playbook delivered a 2X+ Value with five of those delivering 3X+
  • The average value for running backs was 3.76X, a record
  • More than 50% of all players in the Playbook had over 3X Value.
  • Tough sleepers in the Playbook delivered with Kadarius Toney, Hunter Henry and the Cowboys DT
  • Here is your 215.2-point team from the Playbook & Dart Board with $1,000 left on the tables

One note to make – We are scoring this with Alexander Mattison because, while the Playbook listed Dalvin Cook, I said in the write-up that he could very well be serving as a placeholder for Mattison, given the uncertainty of Cook's game status. I was on the Sunday Gameday Livestream when the announcement came down and said immediately that Mattison was our value play at running back instead of Damien Williams and replacEd Williams in all of the Example Lineups. Not that I needed to, but I just wanted to make sure that was clear to everyone.

For any newcomers this week:

“If you give a man a fish, he’ll eat for a day. If you teach a man to fish, he’ll eat for a lifetime.”

We take this adage to heart when it comes to playing NFL DFS. The Fantasy Alarm Playbook isn’t just about handing you a list of players and a lineup to use each week. It is designed to help you learn to be a better DFS player. It’s about teaching you the process used in selecting which players to scout and, eventually, which ones to use.

Therefore, we will begin each week with the Weekly NFL DFS Watch List which is designed to keep tabs on marquee names, chalk plays and, of course, the weekly bargains who may not see the same coverage and exposure. This piece will be continuously updated throughout the week, based on the most recent news and injuries which means you may see a name or two removed as we get closer to kick-off. You may also see a few late-week additions who pique our interest for some reason too, and by the end of the week, this Watch List will eventually become your Playbook. Again, it’s about teaching you the process.

Also remember, the DFS Watch List focuses on the Sunday Main Slate. We cover Thursday, Monday and Sunday Night Football via Showdown slate coverage.

Now let's get to work…
