Top Tier

Fernando Tatis, SS, SD – My man crush with Tatis continues, and let’s face it, why not? He has two homers and five RBI in the last two days and has 19 round trippers and 13 stolen bases on the season. Tonight, we get Tatis at Coors Field??? Yes please! Tatis has been hitting 55 points higher on the road this season with a .302 average away from Petco, and 11 of his 19 homers have come on the road despite 12 fewer at-bats. In his 11 career starts at Coors he has hit a ridiculous .377 with six doubles, four triples, and a home run. He will face Chi Chi Rodriguez who has been bouncing back and forth between the bullpen and starting. He was clobbered for eight earned runs (including three homers) in his last start and has allowed 13 earned runs in his last 11.2 innings. All but two of Tatis home runs this season have come against righty pitchers and he has three hits in seven career at-bats against Gonzalez including a homer.

Jose Ramirez, 3B, CLE – This is a case of taking a superstar hitter against Matt Harvey. The Orioles starter has allowed five earned runs or more in five of his last six starts, and four of them he didn’t go past three innings. So needless to say, Harvey gives it up a lot! Ramirez has just an RBI double against him in four at-bats against Harvey in his career, but I swear the former Dark Knight gets worse every time he takes the mound. Ramirez has three multi-hit efforts in his last six games including three doubles and a home run. He has hit 12 of his 14 home runs against right-handed pitchers, and Harvey has allowed ten homers in just over 50 innings. Ramirez has a good contact rate at 85.3% with a solid hard-hit rate of 40.5% and a wOBA of .381. Basically, he is making good contact and when he does, he is hitting it hard. All of this is a great recipe when facing Matt Harvey and eventually the weak Orioles bullpen.

Mid-Tier

Nick Castellanos, OF, CIN – We went with Castellanos yesterday and he gave us an RBI and stolen base and we are back with him again today. I just want this guy in my lineup whenever he is facing a lefty. Tonight, it is Brett Anderson who has only finished the fifth inning once in his last seven starts. He has allowed seven earned runs in his last 7.1 innings over two starts and has allowed seven homers in just 39.2 innings so far this season. Castellanos is hitting .392 against left-handed pitching and has eight hits in 21 career at-bats against Anderson with two doubles and a home run. His salary is still lower than it should be, and he fits nicely into all lineups tonight.

Ke’Bryan Hayes, 3B, PIT – He has one hit or more in all ten games since coming back from the Injured List, and five of them have been for extra bases. Hayes has shown no ill effects from the wrist injury that shelved him for most of the season. When he plays, he hits, it is as simple as that. He will face Patrick Corbin tonight, who on name value is a quality pitcher. However, he has allowed four earned runs in three of his last four outings and has allowed 12 home runs in 12 starts. Hayes has not fac3ed Corbin yet in his young career, but he is crushing lefties with a .385 average and 1.231 OPS. Given his success it feels like his salary is well lower than it should be.

Tommy Edman, 2B/OF – I was hoping for a little more power from him this season, but Edman has still been a great bet against left-handed pitching. The Marlins will throw Trevor Rogers tonight who is returning from a short stint on the Injured List but has been very effective this season. However, Edman has been hitting 50 points higher at home with a .289 average at Busch and is hitting lefties at a .333 clip with a 1.012 OPS. He also has a great contact rate over 87% so is unlikely to be a high candidate for strikeouts against Rogers. Also give a look to Yadier Molina who hits lefties great as well.

Value Tier

Francisco Lindor, SS, NYM – I know he hasn’t had a good season, but DraftKings especially is just begging for you to play Lindor. $4,000 for a guy of this caliber I just can’t ignore. He does have four multi-hit games so far in June with three doubles, a triple and two homers. He is still hitting just .217, but he is hitting 50 points higher at home than on the road with a .247 average. The Cubs are throwing Alec Mills who is generally used out of the bullpen and is sitting on an ERA over 6.00. He has given up three earned runs in three of his last five outings which none are over 2.1 innings. The Cubs bullpen has been effective so far this season, so Lindor would be wise to make an impact early, but this price tag is just too low for me to ignore.

Ozzie Albies, 2B, ATL – Speaking of low price tags! I know that he has disappointed to this point, but Albies at $3,900 is not something I am prepared to pass on. And the fact that he is facing Eduardo Rodriguez makes it more tempting. Rodriguez has allowed four earned runs or more in five of his last six starts, and six earned runs in two of his last three outings. His 6.03 ERA and 1.45 WHIP tell us he is letting a lot of guys on base, and many of them are scoring. Albies has been hitting lefties very well this season with a .323 batting average and .999 OPS as opposed to .233 and .759. He has also been much better at home with a .285/.946 split against .221/.667 on the road. The guy is still one of the better young talents in the game and with this low cost you’ll find him in my lineups for sure.

Robbie Grossman, OF, DET – I’m not exactly sure what this guy has to do to get some love from the DFS companies, but hey let’s just keep taking advantage of the low price tag! Grossman didn’t play on June 6th and has had four multi-hit games since then with two doubles and three homers. The Royals will throw Mike Minor who has been wildly inconsistent to say the least of late. However, Minor has been around a while, and we know he isn’t a pitcher that scares you in DFS contests. He has allowed 12 homers in 13 starts this season and Grossman has been very effective against lefties. For the season, Grossman is hitting .302 against southpaws with a .982 OPS. He has four hits in nine career at-bats against Minor including a home run. He isn’t going to cost you a lot and should give you a great return on his cost while allowing you to pay up somewhere else. Like earlier with Edman, also consider his catcher Eric Haase who has been fairly hot lately and has good numbers against left-handed pitching.
