Happy Saturday #Family! The weekend always brings a fun, full slate of MLB action and today is no different. Injuries have taken some of our best players out, but there is still plenty of goodies to choose from to cash those lineups. We have a nice array of different positions and different salaries for you to pore over so let’s get right to the players!

Top Tier

José Ramírez, 3B, CLE – If Mookie Betts plays today, he would definitely be a top tier play for me but since he was taken out of last night’s game his availability today is definitely in question. I’ll pivot to Ramirez who just had a day off Thursday for a little recharge and came back last night with a nice double. He has four home runs in the last ten days and his .369 wOBA, 12.2% barrels per plate appearance and 40.3% hard hit rate are all excellent. The Tigers are throwing Tyler Anderson who has allowed seven earned runs in his last eight innings and is not a high strikeout pitcher. He hasn’t been going deep into games, and the Tigers bullpen ERA is the sixth worst in baseball. Ramirez has three hits in six career at-bats against Alexander including a home run and has four more home runs at home even with 37 fewer at-bats in Cleveland.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., 1B, TOR – His production has been a bit down lately and I am surprised how low his salary is, at least on DraftKings. Today is the day that Vlad gets back on track. The Red Sox send Nick Pivetta to the mound, who Guerrero has hit .364 against with a double, a home run, and four RBI in his short career. He is also hitting .340 at home with a 1.196 OPS and 22 of his 34 home runs. He is also destroying right-handed pitchers like Pivetta with a .339 average and 1.114 OPS with 29 of his 34 home runs.

Mid-Tier

Trey Mancini, 1B, BAL – He had a few hitless days and a rest day this week, but Mancini got back on track last night with two doubles and looks to continue that today. The Rays are starting Shane McClanahan who has had a fine season to this point but is far from someone you have to avoid. Mancini has nine of his 19 home runs against left-handed pitching despite 136 fewer at-bats against them. He also hits 46 points higher in batting average against lefties. He is also a far superior hitter at Camden yards with a .296 average (.226 on the road) and 14 of his 19 home runs even though he has only had 24 more at bats on the road.

Miguel Rojas, SS, MIA – He has a hit in six of the last seven games and while he isn’t going to light up the power department, Rojas gives you a speed component to go with a little pop. He will face Austin Gomber today who has not been great lately. In his last four starts he has only lasted 15 innings and has allowed 11 earned runs. He has also allowed four homers in the last three starts. Rojas also hits .251 against left-handed pitching as opposed to just .231 against righties. The game is also in Colorado which is always good for the guys at the plate.

Salvador Perez, C, KC – He missed yesterday’s game with an illness but tested negative for Covid-19 so I am hoping it was just a one day absence. However, definitely check lineups before locking him in. If Perez plays he is an absolute steal on DraftKings at $4,400. The Cardinals are pitching Kwang Hyun Kim who was blasted for four home runs and five earned runs his last time out. Perez hits .345 against left-handed pitching as opposed to .252 against righties. His power stroke comes against left-handers too as 13 of his 27 homers have come against southpaws despite 200+ more at-bats against righties.

Value Tier

Carlos Correa, SS, HOU – While it hasn’t been the best season for Correa, he still has 17 home runs and 59 RBI with 70 runs scored. He also hasn’t been tearing the cover off the ball lately, but the matchup is one I can’t ignore. Correa has ten of his 17 homers at home and the Twins will throw Michael Pineda. He hasn’t been as terrible this year, but Correa has quite the history against him. In 20 career at-bats, Correa has 11 hits (.550 average) including four doubles and two home runs. That kind of success I can’t ignore especially at the value price.

Ketel Marte, OF, ARI – You can see the matchup against Yu Darvish and run from it, but he has allowed four runs or more in four of his last five starts. He has also allowed nine homers over that span and 19 on the season. Marte is hitting .313 against right-handed pitching and has five hits in 12 career at-bats (.417) including a double and a home run. I understand if you are hesitant a little because of the name of the starter, but history says it isn’t a bad bet.

Brendan Rodgers, 2B, COL – I am not sure when this guy’s salary will increase with his production. He has a hit in every game since July 25th and has three straight multi-hit games. His has also rapped three doubles and four home runs while hitting .373 over the last 14 days. The Marlins are throwing Jesús Luzardo who has been mostly a disaster this season with an ERA near 7.00 after being demoted to the Oakland bullpen before being traded. He has allowed 12 home runs in just 43 innings. In fact, the one-time Rodgers faced Luzardo, he took him deep. Rodgers owns a 1.058 OPS against lefties with six of his nine home runs despite 100 fewer at-bats against them. You can’t beat the price or the matchup.
