Happy Wednesday #FAmily! It is a great day for some MLB DFS with a ten-game main slate tonight! There are several very good starting pitchers on the docket for this evening, and several more who are solid. However, with ten games that also means that there is a plethora of arms to target, as well as a great selection of hitters to fill our soon-to-be winning lineups! Whether you need a value bat to pay up for that great pitching or looking for that elite level stud, here are several options for you to consider when filling your rosters tonight.

Top Tier

Mookie Betts, OF, LAD – He has a hit in 12 straight games and has hit .354 over the last 14 days with two home runs, eight RBI and a steal. In his 11 starts at Coors Field he has hit .346 with nine extra base hits and seven RBI. He faces Germán Márquez tonight, and he has started to unravel lately. In his last seven starts he has allowed 27 earned runs, including nine home runs. Betts has five hits in nine at-bats against Marquez with a couple of RBI and is in a great spot on Wednesday.

Manny Machado, 3B, SD – It has been a great week for Machado who has hit .407 in the last week, including four multi-hit games with five RBI and the two home runs last night. The combination of this hot streak and facing Scott Kazmir is just a match made in heaven! Kazmir allowed five runs in seven innings with three home runs and had an ERA of 4.61 in the minors this season! Machado does hit better against right-handed pitching, but this matchup just looks so right.

Jose Altuve, 2B, HOU – Another guy who has been on a tear, Altuve has hit .347 with four doubles, three home runs and eight RBI. Altuve has also hit .301 in 71 games in Los Angeles in his career with 17 doubles, six home runs, and 32 RBI. He will face Janson Junk who has allowed six runs (two earned) in eight innings in the Majors this season and three home runs in those eight innings. Altuve hasn’t faced Junk but has hit 22 of his 29 home runs against right-handed pitching and Junk has been prone to the long ball in 2021.

Mid-Tier

Paul Goldschmidt, 1B, STL – He has been quieted the past two nights, but Goldy is still hitting .304 in the last week with four doubles, a home run and four RBI. Goldschmidt has hit .331 in his career at Miller Park with 14 doubles, 14 home runs, and 35 RBI in 44 starts there. He has hit .336 against left-handed pitching with a .994 OPS. He has also scorched Brewers starter Brett Anderson with ten hits in 21 career at-bats with a double, two home runs and seven RBI.

Kyle Tucker, OF, HOU – It has been quite a run for Tucker who has hit .370 with three home runs and nine RBI including the long ball last night. He also has three multi-hit games in the last seven days. He also has seven home runs in just 16 starts at Angels Stadium. We already outlined Janson Junk’s issues with allowing the long ball and Tucker has hit .308 with 17 of his 27 home runs against right-handed pitching. He has also stolen all 13 of his bases against righties.

Giancarlo Stanton, OF, NYY – This is mostly a DK play because his salary is at $4,300 and that surprises me. Not that he has been completely lighting the world on fire, but Stanton has hit .288 in the last two weeks with five home runs and ten RBI. He will face Rangers starter Taylor Hearn today who allowed seven earned runs in his last start and allowed seven home runs in his four starts before that one. You might get a home run or nothing here from Stanton, but the price on DK is low enough that it is worth it considering the game is in Yankee Stadium and he is facing a pitcher who is giving up home runs at a concerning rate.

Value Tier

Jared Walsh, 1B, LAA – It has been a quiet week for Walsh, but we only have to worry about today. He hits 37 points higher at home and 15 of his 27 home runs have come at Angels Stadium as well. The Astros starter, Luis García, was solid his last time out but had allowed nine earned runs in his previous 15 innings. Walsh hits .317 with a .960 OPS against right-handed pitching with 18 of his 27 home runs coming against them. He has also hit Garcia very well with six hits in nine career at-bats including two doubles and two home runs. They faced each other on August 14th and Walsh had an RBI single and two walks.

Andrew McCutchen, OF, PHI – I see several factors in this game that make me like McCutchen. He has a hit in four of the last five, including two multi-hit games and four doubles in that span. My favorite though is the opposing starting pitcher, Keegan Akin. The Orioles’ punching bag has allowed 11 earned runs in his last 14 innings and has allowed at least one home run in seven straight starts. His ERA for the season is 6.93. McCutchen has not faced him in his career but is hitting .303 with a 1.056 OPS against lefties this season as opposed to .181 and .619 against right-handers. 14 of his 24 home runs have come against lefties and this certainly has the recipe for success for McCutchen tonight.

Dylan Carlson, OF, STL – He has had a fine season but hasn’t been a consistent performer each day, but Carlson is always a good bet when a lefty is on the mound. The Brewers will send southpaw Brett Anderson to the bump tonight. Carlson has hit an impressive .345 against left-handed pitching this season with a solid .914 OPS. This is Anderson’s first start in a few weeks after a shoulder injury. Before that he had allowed 12 earned runs in 14.2 innings so this is a great spot for the Cardinals young outfielder.
