The first set of game two’s kicks off today in the Stanley Cup playoffs with Jonathan Huberdeau and the Florida Panthers taking on Nikita Kucherov and the Tampa Bay Lightning, as well as Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche hosting Ryan O’Reilly of the St.Louis Blues on a two-game NHL DFS slate. The Panthers were the better team for much of the first two periods on Tuesday, and we saw much-improved play from Jonathan Huberdeau, as well as a solid performance from Aleksander Barkov, but not a lot else from the Panthers. It took the Panthers a few games to figure their offense out against the Capitals and we could be in for something similar in this series as well. Nikita Kucherov broke the game in game one. He looked much faster than he had against Toronto in the previous round and he is a big reason why the Lightning won the game. We also saw great value from Corey Perry, who had a goal and an assist to go along with four shots. With Brayden Point continuing to be out of the lineup we should see good value from Perry, as well as Nick Paul who is also seeing more minutes, and we shouldn’t dismiss the game one performance of Ross Colton either who had a goal and five shots in 13 minutes of play.

When it comes to Florida’s defense, I would focus on Ben Chiarot who continues to block plenty of shots, but we are not seeing anyone else either shooting in volume, getting points, or blocking shots. For Tampa Bay, we start with Victor Hedman(what a surprise). Hedman had an assist, and three shots, we also saw good value from Ryan McDonough who blocked four shots, and Mikhail Sergachev who also had an assist to go along with his two blocked shots and a shot on goal.

I still don’t have an incredible amount of faith in Sergei Bobrovsky. He had two periods but the end result was another night where he had a lackluster save percentage and thus a poor DFS performance. Andrei Vasilevskiy continued his world-class play from the end of the first round into game one, and he is a goalie who can be very difficult to beat and is a solid choice again today.

We largely got the performance we were expecting from Nathan MacKinnon in game one. We didn’t get the goals, but he had an assist and eight shots on goal. We also saw useful performances from Mikko Rantanen, Nazim Kadri, Gabriel Landeskog, and Valari Nichushkin who all had points and put four or more shots on goal. We saw another fantastic game from Ryan O’Reilly of the Blues in game one, as he continues his playoff goal-scoring streak. We saw a goal from Jordan Kyrou as well, and while we didn’t see much production from Pavel Buchnevich or Vladimir Tarasenko, both are capable of having big games and getting points.

We saw a big-time performance from Samuel Girard in game one. He scored a goal, had seven shots, and blocked four shots, which made him a slate breaker. We didn’t see much production from Cale Makar and Devon Toews though, which I would expect to be more of an anomaly than a trend, so you shouldn’t hesitate to use either player today. For the Blues, Justin Faulk continues to produce, and he should be the prime target on their team on the backend. He had an assist, two shots, and three blocked shots. You can also look at Colton Parayko who played nearly 30 minutes in game one and had three blocked shots, and also Cale Rosen who provided four blocked shots and should be very inexpensive, you will just want to ensure he is going to be in the lineup.

For your GPP games, Jordan Binnington should be a solid play today. He stopped 51 shots in game one, and he could see himself facing a lot of shots again today. With that said Darcy Kuemper was no slouch either. He didn’t see the same shot volume he still stopped 23 of the 25 shots he faced and got the ever so valuable win, but he won’t come with the same upside as Binnington, but not the same risk either.
