The Colorado Avalanche have a chance to close their series out tonight on home ice against the St. Louis Blues in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Nazem Kadri has been a great story in this round, while the loss of Jordan Binnington may be too much for the Blues to overcome. You can build daily fantasy hockey lineups on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo Fantasy for the NHL playoffs action on Wednesday, May 25th. Let's now take a closer look at the daily fantasy hockey top plays for tonight's NHL DFS Showdown slate between the Avalanche and Blues.

Colorado Avalanche vs. St. Louis Blues

It’s going to be really hard to fade Nazem Kadri in the Captain's spot. He’s been amazing in this round and should continue his strong play tonight. Nathan MacKinnon isn’t a bad option either, but he only has three points in this series, and that’s just not going to cut it. No reason to pay over $16K for a player that isn’t hitting value.

When it comes to filling out the rest of your lineup, there are some pretty good options to consider. Mikko Rantanen is skating on the second line with Kadri, so that’s a mini-stack worth considering. Artturi Lehkonen has moved up to the top line with MacKinnon and is only $4400 on DraftKings. He isn’t seeing top power play minutes, but playing with MacKinnon isn’t exactly a bad thing. It’s also a good way to get some exposure to the top line.

If you need a Colorado defenceman, Erik Johnson is probably the best bang for your buck. Devon Toews and Cale Makar are both good options, but neither player has really exploded in this round. If you’re going to pay up for a player, you want to have some kind of consistency. Johnson is $4600 and is getting some shots on goal while also blocking a couple. It’s a risk worth considering if you need to save some salary.

For the Blues, David Perron is having himself a decent series. He has four goals in as many games and continues to be slightly underpriced at $7800. His matchup on paper isn’t great, but the upside is there. Another winger worth considering is Jordan Kyrou. He scored a goal in each of the first two games of this series and has points in three of the four games. He’s skating on the third line, but that might help him get a better matchup.

Nick Leddy is a player that going to be forgotten tonight because he doesn’t rack up points. He’s $3200 on DK and is skating on the top pairing with Colton Parayko. He finished with three blocked shots last game and should be able to do the same tonight. The salary relief alone is enough to consider playing him. If you really want to go to the bottom of the barrel, Niko Mikkola is $2000 and has blocked three or more shots in three games this series. There’s a chance that he doesn’t stay in the lineup for this game, but if he does, it would be foolish to not play him. In fact, if you want to load up on superstars, I’d go as far as playing Mikkola and Leddy in the same lineup.

I don’t like goalies on Showdown slates and tonight is no different. Ville Husso has been a mess in the playoffs and Darcy Kuemper might not see enough shots to hit value. Even if Kuemper picks up the win, he would need over 21 fantasy points to hit value, and he’s yet to do that this series despite having won three games. Goalies are voodoo, so I’m staying far away from them and focusing on players who can score goals.
