TGIF! Let’s get the weekend started off right with some lower-priced guys to get into your lineups for this main slate. If you are all in on Trevor Rogers against Milwaukee or Jack Flaherty against the Rockies, you are going to need to round out your lineup with some lower priced guys. Fortunately, there’s a good amount of value on this slate, so without further ado, let’s jump in!

Both Sites

Dylan Carlson, OF STL ($2,600 FD/$3,400 DK) - WHEN WILL THEY PRICE THIS MAN CORRECTLY? Good grief. He’s hitting .275 on the year with three homers, 15 RBI and 20 runs scored, and sure he’s striking out a good bit, but you don’t see many guys with his numbers priced this low. He’s rocking a four game hit-streak and is facing a lefty, so sign me up! This year, Carlson is hitting .444 with a .482 wOBA against southpaws this season, and for his career, he’s hitting .345 with a .552 slugging percentage and .207 ISO against lefties. PLUG AND PLAY.

DraftKings

Nick Madrigal , 2B CWS ($3,000 DK) - Madrigal’s ceiling is obviously limited, due to the fact that he doesn’t leave the yard. He has .089 ISO and 5.80 GB/FB ratio this year, so slotting him in your lineup expecting big time power is foolish. However, he’s riding a five-game hit streak and has notched seven or more DraftKings points in three of his last five. His numbers are more impressive against southpaws than right-handers, but he’s a .275 hitter this year off righties, and Kansas City’s Brad Keller has served up a massive .479 wOBA to right-hand hitters. I love a White Sox stack today, and Madrigal is a cheap piece of it and has multi-hit and multi-run scoring potential.

Yandy Díaz , 1B TB ($2,900 DK) - While Diaz doesn’t have top-end power, he can run into a ball every now and again, and that occurrence is more common against lefties. In 2021, he’s hitting just .226 against righties, but he’s sporting a solid .342 average and .852 OPS against southpaws. For his big league career, he’s a .297 hitter against lefties, with a .438 slugging percentage and .141 ISO (.384 SLG% and .116 ISO against RHP).

FanDuel

DJ LeMahieu , 1B NYY ($3,200 FD) - LeMahieu is no stranger to Washington southpaw Patrick Corbin , although the latter might wish that they would be. LeMahieu sports a .353 average, .444 wOBA and four home runs across 51 at-bats against Corbin. Lefties struggle with Corbin, or at least they have this year, whereas righties are thriving, posting an OPS above 1.100 and a massive .462 wOBA. It hasn’t been a great start to the year for LeMahieu, but since the calendar flipped to May, he has two multi-hit efforts and has scored a run in three of five contests.

Paul Goldschmidt , 1B STL ($3,000 FD) - Goldschmidt has hit safely in four of his last five outings, and has been far better against southpaws this year. Colorado’s Austin Gomber bounced back in his last outing, but he has allowed at least two earned runs in each of his last five outings, including nine earned runs back on April 26th. Furthermore, Goldschmidt is hitting .350 against southpaws this year, Gomber has allowed an .830 OPS to right-handed hitters in 2021, and I love including Goldy in a Cardinals stack today, along with Carlson, and Arenado, if you can afford him.

J.T. Realmuto, C PHI ($2,900 FD) - If you want to play a catcher today, and want to do it at a reasonable price point, Realmuto is your guy. He’s sub-$3,000 on FanDuel, and sports a .353 average against Atlanta’s Charlie Morton . The Atlanta right-hander is more susceptible to right-handed hitters, and Realmuto has a .369 wOBA against righties in 2021. Also, while all of Realmuto’s home runs have come at home in 2021, his .224 batting average at home is nothing compared to his .378 average on the road. The stars are aligning here for Realmuto, and he’s posted at least nine FanDuel points in three of his last five. If you want to pivot off Realmuto, check out Mitch Garver , as he’s facing a lefty and he has four home runs in just 36 at-bats against southpaws this year.

Dansby Swanson , SS ATL ($2,300 FD) - Swanson is super cheap on FanDuel, and he has a solid track record against Philadelphia’s Zach Eflin , posting a .400 average (8-for-20) with one home run and a .476 wOBA. Since the calendar flipped to May, Swanson’s making louder contact, as his average exit velocity is up over two miles per hour, and his hard contact is up immensely, per Baseball Savant. Swanson has been better against southpaws in 2021, but I’ll bet on his track record against Eflin, as well as the anticipated return on investment at his near minimum price tag.
