The finals are upon us and even though it has felt like the longest road, we have arrived at our expected teams. Defending champions in Royal Never Give Up look to go back to back against the LCK’s best, T1 Esports. Both teams have had stumbles at times but look to be at the height of their performances going into the final series. RNG quickly dispatched the LCS’ Evil Geniuses, while T1 made fast work of G2 Esports. We have seen each of the ten players carry their team at points while struggling in other matches. Who will come out on top? Who carries their team? Let’s dive in and find out!

Mid Season Invitational

May 29th, 2022

(+125) Royal Never Give Up v T1 Esports (-165)

Cann’s Series Pick: T1 Esports (3-1)

T1’s Captain

Favorite: Gumayusi ($15,900) The desire to pick both ADCs in the captain role will be strong in this matchup. Gumayusi is averaging over 65 FPPG and had 115 fantasy points in the G2 series. I think the risk with this pick is that while he is almost always involved with team fights, he can end up picking up far more assists than kills. This was the case in the G2 series where he had nearly 7 assists per game but only 3 kills over the same amount of time. There is the highest possible ceiling with this pick, especially with the output that T1 has seen in the last two weeks.

Value Pick: Oner ($13,800)

RNG’s Captain

Favorite: Gala ($16,200) Unlike Gumayusi, Gala’s team needs him to carry late game teamfights. We see time and time again that Gala is core to the success of this LPL titan and luckily his best champions (Ezreal and Kai’Sa) seem to be some of the strongest picks right now. He had 16 kills against EG with almost 30 assists, all within a 3-game series. T1 Esports can try to put pressure in the bottom lane, an avenue to set Gala behind, but I don’t see them trying. T1 Esports could skill-check other lanes and probably see a better return. In the bottom lane, however, I think Gala and Ming have the better individual skills and could put the Young Korean bottom lane in a bad situation.

Value Pick: Xiaohu ($15,300)

Flex Player for T1 Esports:

Favorite: Faker ($10,000) Faker was dominant in his play against G2’s Caps. He outplayed the European mid-laner in both individual skill and macro awareness. He pushed his champions to the limit and continued to punish sloppy play out of the LEC Champions. His Akali play was a clinic on how one player can cause such disruption that the other lanes almost don’t matter. Xiaohu will have his hands full trying to roam to side lanes and apply pressure with Wei in the early game.

Value Pick: Keria ($7,600)

Flex Player for Royal Never Give Up:

Favorite: Xiaohu ($10,200) The mid-lane matchup will be one to look out for. Not only is it another carry role on the five-man team, but how RNG uses Xiaohu is important. Xiaohu will roam with Wei and secure early pressure, making Gala’s transition into the late game smoother. RNG is clinical in how they play out objective fights and that will be needed against T1. He has the mechanical skill to keep up with Faker and the map awareness to move where he is needed.

Value Pick: bin ($8,000)
