We have made it to July and in the League of Legends calendar, it signals that the end of the regular season is quickly approaching. The LEC has some surprising teams who have shot to the top of the league, like Excel Esports and the MAD Lions. Other teams, like Fnatic and Team Vitality, are underperforming their own lofty standards by middling with the average European lineups. Do we see another dominant weekend by G2? Does Rogue continue to correct their starting course? With big games across the slate, there is so much to break down! Let’s dive in!

League of Legends DFS Fantasy Breakdown

Game #1: Team BDS v Misfits

Game Breakdown: Looking at both of these teams (and you could throw the other 1-4 team, SK Gaming into this analysis) you find a pretty common theme. They lack the individual player skill to overcompensate what appears to be a complete lack of team coordination and preparedness. Team BDS and Misfits have shown glimpses of possibility. Team BDS beat G2 this split and Misfits ended last split in 3rd place but we see both teams at 1-4. For Team BDS, their ADC (xMatty) is just not consistent enough of a damage dealer to fit their clear draft approach in catering to him. He will get picked in the laning phase and many times be late to rotate to fights. For Misfits, there is just a complete gap between their mid-laner (Vetheo) and the rest of his team. Teams can outdraft the Misfits and target their mid-laner the entire game to pick up a win. Having such a simple way to beat a team is never good because both good and bad teams can beat you.

Favorite Picks: Vetheo (MSF: $7,400), Neon (MSF: $7,400)

Value Picks: Nuclearint (BDS: $7,000), Agresivoo (BDS: $5,400)

Cann’s Match Pick:  Team BDS

Game #2: Team Vitality v SK Gaming

Game Breakdown: This match should be the most open-shut game on the slate. SK is 1-4 on the split and have not looked impressive or coordinated in most of their matches. For Team Vitality, you have put the two best laners (Alphari and Perkz) in the West and should have the easiest draft approach. Get both of these players into winning situations and let them take over the game. The problem for this team is that against better teams, their leads don’t translate into team advantages. SK has taken a step backwards this split and a big part of it is that Jezu (ADC) has not been able to effectively scale into late gane team fighting power.

Favorite Picks: Perkz (VIT: $11,400/$7,600), Haru (VIT: $7,000), Labrov (VIT: $5,600), Team Vitality ($5,600)

Value Picks: Jezu (SK: $6,200), JNX (SK: $5,000)

Cann’s Match Pick: Team Vitality

Game #3: Rogue v Excel Esports

Game Breakdown: I know why most betters have put most of a value on Rogue (their history of success) but I am not sure they deserve it right now. Through 5 games, there is no player in the 20’s and for the first time in years, they are in the bottom five as a team in the death statistic. They as a team seem out of sorts and I cannot place why that has happened. It may be the fact that they feel like the lack of playoff success is putting a lot of pressure on them or the current meta doesn’t fit their strengths but something is lost here. Excel seem very clean in comparison. Their bottom lane of Mikyx and Patrik have really rounded into form, justifying the organizations move last split. I believe this is a coin-flip match and you could choose to land on either side, but recent memory is siding with the up-and-coming XL.

Favorite Picks: Comp (RGE: $11,400/$7,600), Malrang (RGE: $6,600), Trymbi (RGE: $5,400)

Value Picks: Patrik (XL: $10,800/$7,200), Nukeduck (XL: $6,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: Excel Esports

Game #4: Fnatic v Astralis

Game Breakdown: Much like Rogue, I am not sure what is wrong with Fnatic. When I watch their matches it feels like they are trying to push themselves, possibly try new approaches to the game, feeling confident that they can make it to playoffs by the end of the split. They haven’t had a terrible split, Upset in particular has done fairly well for hi`mself with a 6+ KDA and over 20 kills this split. The problem is that they are playing fast and sloppy execution in later fights. Astralis has looked reinvented with their addition of Xerxe. Xerxe returned from North America (Immortals) and was looking for a new lease on his career. It appears with Astralis he has done that.

Favorite Picks: Upset (FNC: $8,200), Humanoid (FNC: $7,800), Fnatic ($6,000)

Value Picks: Kobbe (AST: $6,800), Xerxe (AST: $5,800), Astralis ($4,200)

Cann’s Match Pick: Fnatic

Game #1: MAD Lions v G2 Esports

Game Breakdown: The price difference here seems a little inflated for G2, so I would pick up G2 members with some caution. The MAD Lions have looked better after their shift to Nisqy in the mid lane and Unforgiven has continued to progress as a professional in a carry role. What makes G2 an exciting pick here is their top three kil leaders (caPs, BrokenBlade, and Flakked) have a combined 74 kills in 5 games. If your carries can drop a combined 15 kills a game, you tend to be a hot commodity. The MAD Lions play a more controlled style of play, focusing heavily on neutral objectives. This means they individually may not pick up as many points but they will have a good chance at winning this match

Favorite Picks: Targamas (G2: $6,000), BrokenBlade (G2: $6,800), Jankos (G2: $7,200)

Value Picks: Unforgiven (MAD: $9,900/$6,600), Nisqy (MAD: $6,00), Elyoya (MAD: $5,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: G2 Esports
