Lots of top matches here on the League of Legends calendar as we turn into July and of course, that means that the regular season is coming to a close. The LEC has some surprising teams who have shot to the top of the league, like Excel Esports and the MAD Lions. Other teams, like Fnatic and Team Vitality, are underperforming their own lofty standards by middling with the average European lineups. Do we see another dominant weekend by G2? Does Rogue continue to correct their starting course? With big games across the slate, there is so much to break down! Let’s dive in!

League of Legends DFS Fantasy Breakdown

Game #1: BDS Esport v Excel Esports

Game Breakdown: Regardless of their loss to RGE on Friday, I am becoming more and more of a believer in XL. Their steps during the off-season, including a team boot camp in Korea, have seemed to produce a more polished team in Summer. While Patrik is still the primary carry, you see those support pieces like Markoon and Mikyx having a larger impact. Team BDS on the other hand is tough to watch. It seems crazy to me that there are legitimate ADCs in Europe without a team but still BDS goes with xMatty.

Favorite Picks: Patrik (XL: $12,000/$8,000), Markoon (XL: $7,200), Mikyx (XL: $5,800), Excel Esports ($5,800)

Value Picks: Nuclearint (BDS: $6,200), Agresivoo (BDS: $5,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Excel Esports

Game #2: SK Gaming v Rogue

Game Breakdown: Rogue have to be feeling really good about where they are at. They picked up a win over a top tier team on Friday (XL) and now they have one of the weakest performing teams in SK gaming for their Saturday match. Larsen has looked far more influential in the middle lane and Malrang has done a good job putting pressure on opposing junglers. The only role I would say that SK have a fighting chance would be in the top lane with JNX. Let’s be clear, Odoamne is significantly better than JNX but JNX does have a more aggressive play style in lane while Odo plays as a weak side player. This means he will give up kills and gold in his lane so his team can win elsewhere. So JNX may have a decent score line at points in this game but it doesn’t mean he is winning.

Favorite Picks: Larssen (RGE: $12,000/$8,000), Malrang (RGE: $7,000)

Value Picks: JNX (SK: $5,000), Sertuss (SK: $5,800)

Cann’s Match Pick: Rogue

Game #3: Vitality v Astralis

Game Breakdown: in true form, Vitality looked absolutely untouchable on Friday. Why? Because they were playing one of the worst teams in the league and arguably could win in the draft. I have them winning here but there is probably a better chance of Astralis wing here. I would say that AST has the advantage in the bottom lane (Kobbe over Carzzy), support (JeonHoon over Labrov) and jungle (Xerxe over Haru). It just ends up being  so hard for me to pick against Perkz because of how many times we have seen him put a team on his back and win a game by himself.

Favorite Picks: Perkz (VIT: $10,800/$7,200), Haru (VIT: $6,600), Labrov (VIT: $5,200)

Value Picks: Kobbe (AST: $10,800/$7,200), JeongHoon (AST: $4,800), Dajor (AST: $6,800), Xerxe (AST: $6,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Vitality

Game #4: Misfits v MAD Lions

Game Breakdown: Back at the top, the MAD Lions have looked like they both know and embrace who they are as a team. Nisqy seems to be the perfect mid laner for them, having control elements in his play style that brings a calm to players like Unforgiven and Armut. We have seen the deaths per game drop dramatically for this squad and a lot of it comes from Nisqy’s experience. Misfits earned a very strong team win on Friday but against SK Gaming they didn’t have to do much. SK played an early game composition and made horrific mistakes in the early game. MAD won’t provide as clear a win condition and I’m not sure if MSF have the tools to convert.

Favorite Picks: Unforgiven (MAD: $11,700/$7,800), Kaiser (MAD: $6,000), MAD Lions ($5,600)

Value Picks: Vetheo (MSF: $6,400), Mersa (MSF: $4,000)

Cann’s Match Pick: MAD Lions

Game #5: G2 Esports v Fnatic

Game Breakdown: I had a hard time with this match because of how close all of the LEC teams are right now. There is a 6 way tie for 1st at 4-2 and so many top teams have traded wins. In this matchup you will pick G2 if you want a higher likelihood of kill pickups. Players like Perkz and BrokenBlade have been monsters this split and have. Very high upside. That being said, the value benefit from picking up Fnatic players are beyond amazing. If FNC come out with a good performance picking up their top players at such a discount could almost win your lobby on its own.

Favorite Picks: caPs (G2: $11,100/$7,400), BrokenBlade (G2: $6,400), Jankos (G2: $6,800)

Value Picks: Humanoid (FNC: $6,600), Upset (FNC: $6,800), Fnatic ($4,800)

Cann’s Match Pick: G2 Esports
