Sunday brings some top tier LPL and LCK competition with big dogs like DRX and Edward Gaming both hitting the rift. There are also a lot of teams like Bilibili Gaming, Anyone’s Legend, and Invictus Gaming that are all on the path to hopefully securing a playoff spot for Summer. Players like Ghost and Bdd want to take this opportunity to rewrite the narratives around them as they have struggled in 2022. Watch out for dogs to keep their series, the play looks very close across multiple matchups. There are plenty of lineup options, so let’s dive in!

Game #1: Hanwha Life Esports v Nongshim RedForce

Game Breakdown: The lineup for NS feels like they should be one of the best in the league. There is so much talent, like Bdd at mid and Ghost at ADC, that seeing this team struggle is so puzzling. This matchup is nowhere near a “must-win” in terms of standings for NS but there has to be a desperate feeling in the organization. NS was aggressive in the offseason and they have taken a serious step back from 2021 to today. SamD and Karis have been just “ok” throughout their career which makes this even more important for the previous superstars to win.

Favorite Picks: Bdd (NS: $7,200), Ghost (NS: $7,200),

Value Picks: SamD (HLE: $6,400), DuDu (HLE: $5,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Nongshim RedForce (2-0)

Game #2: Invictus Gaming v Anyone’s Legend

Game Breakdown: This is a matchup where I warn you not to buy into the records but instead watch each team’s play. Both of these teams have serious issues in macro-level play and have focused on winning in lane. They each take a lane that is winning and try to snowball that into a team win in the lategame. This approach, which is a terrible one, can be exposed when played better teams, tend to be a coin flip approach against other bad teams. My nod here goes to IG’s jungler, XUN. XUN is so good at aggressively seeking out the enemy jungler and throwing off their pathing. This will throw the rotations of AL all off and can negate wins that they have in the early game by having XUN and XinLiu catch them in rotation.

Favorite Picks: Betty (AL: $12,000/$8,000), Zdz (AL: $6,200)

Value Picks: Zika (IG: $6,000), XinLiu (IG: $4,800), XUN (IG: $6,400)

Cann’s Match Pick: Invictus Gaming (2-1)

Game #3: DRX v Kwangdong Freecs

Game Breakdown: This should be the most one-sided match on the slate. Zeka is playing at such a high level right now (90+ FPPG right now) and he should have an easier time against the KDF. KDF has set up both their roster and approach to winning games relies too much on Teddy. Many teams like to funnel resources into one player but KDF fails to deliver on this approach. Teddy seems to has a limited champion pool and an even more limited approach to how to carry the game. DRX should win this game-handedly and rack up huge points, especially for the dollar amounts the players are set at.

Favorite Picks: Zeka (DRX: $11,100/$7,400), Pyosik (DRX: $6,600), DRX ($5,600)

Value Picks: Teddy (KDF: $6,600)

Cann’s Match Pick: DRX (2-0)

Game #4: Edward Gaming v Bilibili Gaming

Game Breakdown: In comparing the two different teams, both have exciting players with fantastic technical skill. What sets EDG apart (aside from being the reigning World Champions) is their ability to adapt their approach to the game both in the draft and in game. They have matches where the damage needs to go through scout on a more aggressive mid-laner. Other games where they look to 5v5 fight in the late game, focusing on peeling for Viper. BLG is extremely stagnant and will only play for the early game lead to snowballing whoever is the most ahead. I would not be shocked to see this a 2-1 series win for BLG but I expect with the more flexible approach for EDG, they should win.

Favorite Picks: Jiejie (EDG: $7,000), Viper (EDG: $7,800), Meiko (EDG: $5,600

Value Picks: bin (BLG: $5,800), FoFo (BLG: $6,600)

Cann’s Match Pick:  Edward Gaming (2-0)
