Wednesday’s are generally split slates in the MLB world and that’s what we have going on. We had plenty of day baseball, now we’re looking at seven games starting at 6:40 or later that we can choose from on Underdog Fantasy. We have some big names such as Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels and Tim Anderson of the Chicago White Sox in PRIME positions and they are some of my favorite MLB DFS picks of the day. Of course, we have to make sure they’re in their team's lineup and you can do that on the MLB Lineups page. We do have a game potentially compromised by bad weather, so be sure to check out our MLB Weather Center to see which ones and how things are trending, whether it’s good or bad. We have some of the best MLB DFS Projections, powered by FanJections, in the business, so check them out to see if you’re in lockstep there.

Mike Trout OVER 1.5 total bases

With Glenn Otto opposing him, Mike Trout is in a fantastic spot on Wednesday’s slate of games. Trout has been a right-handed pitching demolisher for some time now. In 2021, he had a 1.224 OPS versus right-handed hurlers and hasn’t been lower than 1.000 since 2016 and in ‘16, it was at .992.

Looking at Otto, right-handed hitters are what are giving him issues thus far. RHH have a .475% SLG, .360 wOBA, and an OPS of .820. Trout has hit .342 over his last 10 games and has seven extra-base hits over that span, which would take care of the 1.5 total base issue in one at-bat. The over here feels really good.

Tim Anderson OVER 1.5 total bases

It’s hard to imagine a world where the under on Tim Anderson’s total bases hits unless he walks every at-bat. Anderson has been absolutely DOMINANT against left-handed pitching this year batting .519 with a .582 wOBA. Throughout Anderson’s entire career, he’s been great against southpaws, slashing .329/.353/.524.

We saw Rich Hill look really his last start and righties have given him issues this year. They’re batting .277 with a .770 OPS and .341 wOBA. Anderson has multiple hits in FIVE straight games and in six of seven. He likely makes it six straight here.

Reid Detmers UNDER 4.5 strikeouts

The funny thing about Underdog setting Reid Detmers over/under at 4.5 is that he’s only accomplished this feat once this year. No, it was NOT during his NO-HITTER! He has faced Texas twice and yes, he has a five-strikeout game against them, but how can you be SO confident he’s going to hit the over here?

Texas is not a team that has struck out all that much against left-handed pitching this year. They have the 19th highest K-rate at a 21.8% this year against southpaws. In five starts last season, Detmers had an 18.8% K-rate and this year, it’s even lower at 17.9%. Detmers wasn’t given a very long leash last time out and if he struggles again, I could see the Angels looking out for their young lefty stud.
