NHL Showdown Playbook Captain

We have some solid options on both teams for the captain spot.

It is going to be tough to not have Connor McDavid in your lineups somewhere. He has been dominant in these playoffs with 26 points in 12 games. For reference sake, Nikita Kucherov lead all players in scoring in last year's playoffs and he had 32 points. McDavid could surpass that total before game four on his current pace.

Not to be outdone, Leon Draisaitl also has 26 points, and the Avs are going to struggle to shut both players down in this series.

Nathan MacKinnon is likely the safest bet as your captain in this game. He is consistently putting high volumes of shots on goal, and he has scored eight goals in ten games in the playoffs so far.

NHL Showdown Playbook Other Options

We have seen Mikko Rantanen perform at a little better than a point per game pace in these playoffs but they have been mostly assists. If he can find his scoring touch he could be in for some big games.

You know we love Devon Toews for his upside with points, blocked shots and shots on goal. He is the most likely candidate to give you significant numbers in all three categories offering him a unique upside.

We know that Cale Makar can do offensively, as he can put up just as many points as any forward in this contest and that is saying something when you consider we might have the three best forwards in the game playing tonight.

We have seen Edmonton go ice cold in the regular season at times, and Colorado is capable of slowing the Oilers, which could offer Darcy Kuemper some value provided he can keep the number of goals he gives up to three or less.

Zach Hyman won’t get the attention but he is at a point per game, and he has as many power-play points as Draisaitl.

Evander Kane is the current leader in these playoffs in goals scored with 15, and he is fourth in shots taken, just four behind MacKinnon.

As we often say, Evan Bouchard is a real wild card. He offers you a similar package to Devon Toews with shots, blocked shots and points, it's just rarer that we see them put together from him, it's often just one in each game, but that upside is definitely there.
