Kevin Gausman allowed four hits, four runs, and four walks with seven strikeouts across five innings in a loss against the Phillies on Friday.
Gausman’s disastrous second inning ruined his entire night. It started with a walk, then two straight doubles, another walk, and finally a three-run home run from Kyle Schwarber that pushed the Phillies’ lead to 4-0. Funny enough, Otto Kemp was thrown out at the plate during that inning on Brandon Marsh’s double when Kemp started the play at second base. Besides that inning, he only allowed one other hit, two walks and looked very sharp. Alas, we can’t erase it from his ledger. He’ll look to get back on track next time out against the Diamondbacks.
Kevin Gausman worked six innings and allowed three runs Saturday against the Twins.
Gausman lost the strike zone in the fourth today; having already allowed two singles, he went walk, HBP, walk to force in two runs. Fortunately, he got a double-play ball afterwards. The hit batter was his first of the year. Gausman didn’t factor into the decision today, but the Jays improved to 8-5 in his starts. He’ll face the Phillies next week.
Kevin Gausman allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings and got a no-decision in the Blue Jays’ 8-4 victory over the Athletics on Sunday.
Kevin Gausman threw eight innings and limited the Rangers to one run in the Blue Jays’ 2-1 victory Monday.
Gausman struck out six and went without a walk for a fourth straight outing. His bad starts this year have been pretty awful, but this makes four times that he’s pitched at least six innings and allowed one or no runs. Three of those have come in his last five starts. Overall, he’s 5-4 with a 3.68 ERA. His next start will come at home against the A’s.
