With some surprises in this group, we are seeing the expected team (RNG) rising to the top of the group with ease. The shock (or not for some) is the dropping of a match by HLE to PSG. For the two teams in the middle, there are a lot of opportunities for them to advance to the knockout but they need to come in ready to play right away. The best players come ready for the bright lights, and the lights cannot be brighter now. Let’s dive in!

Cann’s Final Prediction for Group C

  1. Royal Never Give Up (6-0)
  2. Hanwha Life Esports (4-2)
  3. PSG Talon (2-4)
  4. Fnatic (1-5)

Fantasy Value Breakdown

Captain

Favorite: GALA (RNG: $11,400)  While he wasn’t the highest in the kill column in the first round robin stage (that belonged to Wei) GALA definitely has the highest point upside on the slate. He is the focus of RNG’s late game damage and rarely do you see him out of position in teamfights. RNG needs to get him on an aggressive ADC (Kai’Sa) and allow him to have agency during their next three matches.

Value Pick: Wei (RNG: $10,800)

Top Lane

Favorite: Xiaohu (RNG: $6,800) The top laners in this group drop off really quickly after Xiaohu. He has a 7.8 KDA through the first three matches played and can turn his individual skill into a gold difference gap that can almost single-handedly win RNG the game. Both his Kenned and Lucian looked devastating, and he still has strong picks like the Camille and Jayce that has yet to be played thus far in the tournament. This is an RNG player you cannot sleep on.

Value Pick: Adam (FNC: $5,800)

Jungle

Favorite: Willer (HLE: $6,800) Even with Willer being a little more death prone (10 total in 3 games) but his team kill participation (80%+) is something that makes me jump all over this pick. HLE looked off in the first round, but you cannot deny the fact that they have a ton of talent of the roster. Willer looked impressive and if HLE want to move on, they need Willer to show out.

Value Pick: River (PSG: $6,600)

Mid Lane

Favorite: Cryin (RNG: $7,400) Cryin isn’t the flashiest mid laner. And I would not be shocked if he ends up having relatively low kill numbers on Sunday, but the draw to the pick is his consistency. Cryin has settled into a specific role for RNG and you can see that in the picks he is on and how he plays. He facilitates the larger team strategy rather than focusing on winning the exclusive 1v1 in lane. I see the bulk of his points coming from assists and him playing champions like TF or Orianna to help get HLE through to the next round.

Value Pick: Chovy (HLE: $6,800)

ADC

Favorite: Deft (HLE: $7,400) Most of the time, especially during the regular season in the LCK, HLE relied on Chovy to carry the team. Last week, we saw Deft step up and be a huge piece to the puzzle. Even with two losses, Deft didn’t have more than two deaths in any game and actually had a 10.0 KDA In their loss to RNG. HLE need to find a way to continue to play through the bottom lane.

Value Pick: Bean (FNC: $6,800)

Support

Favorite: Ming (RNG: $5,800) Ming is an aggressive support and he is paired with the best ADC in the tournament. We saw what the GALA and Ming combination could do in the Mid-Season Invitational where RNG beat the reigning World Champions Damwon Gaming. I love his 33% team first blood participation rate as well as his current 10 assist per game average. While I think teams like HLE and FNC will round into better shape on Sunday, it shouldn’t be enough to close the gap on RNG.

Value Pick: Vsta (HLE: $5,600

Team

Favorite: Royal Never Give Up ($5,200)  This was my pick for one of the top 5 teams in the tournament to win it all. They have already proven themselves on the international stage and that goes a long way in the World Championships. It is crucial for RNG to lock first place in the group to help them avoid teams like DWG and T1 in the first round of the knock-out stage. Their superior late game team fighting will continue to outclass the rest of the group

Value Pick: Hanwha Life Esports ($4,800)
