Michael Lorenzen was terrific in Tuesday night’s victory over the Rays, surrendering one run on four hits across six frames.
The crafty veteran right-hander walked a pair while striking out four opposing hitters in the ballgame. The lone tally against him came on a leadoff homer by Junior Caminero in the fourth inning. Lorenzen got six swings and misses on 88 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 24 percent. He’ll see if he can extend his personal winning streak to three games as he brings a 3.48 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and a 28/13 K/BB ratio (33 2/3 innings) into Monday’s matchup against the White Sox.
Michael Lorenzen was outstanding in Thursday afternoon’s victory over the Rockies, racking up seven strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball.
The 33-year-old right-hander allowed five hits on the day while issuing four walks. The lone blemish on his day came on a solo blast by Jordan Beck in his final inning of work. Lorenzen generated 12 swings and misses on 96 pitches on the day, posting a CSW of 32 percent. He’ll try to build off of this strong outing as he carries a 3.90 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and a 24/11 K/BB ratio (27 2/3 innings) into Wednesday’s showdown against the Rays in Tampa Bay.
Wednesday’s game between the Rockies and Royals was postponed due to inclement weather.
The two teams went into an extended delay prior to first pitch with showers in the forecast before ultimately deciding against trying to get this one in. It’ll be made up on Thursday as a doubleheader. Wednesday’s original starters — Germán Márquez and Michael Lorenzen — will presumably take the ball at some point during the twin bill.
Michael Lorenzen struggled in a losing effort against the Tigers on Thursday night, allowing four runs on seven hits in just 4 2/3 innings of work.
The 33-year-old right-hander also issued three free passes while striking out three batters on the night. After keeping his former team off the board through the first two innings, they broke through for three runs in the third on a two-run double by Spencer Torkelson and an RBI single off the bat of Riley Greene. Greene added another run-scoring knock in the fifth. Lorenzen got seven swings and misses on 102 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 23 percent. Now 1-3 on the season, he’ll tote an unappealing 4.57 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and a 17/7 K/BB ratio (21 2/3 innings) into a premium matchup against the Rockies on Wednesday.
