He kept the Angels off the board through the first 5 2/3 innings until Jo Adell connected on a two-run blast to sink him in the sixth inning. Lorenzen got 11 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the night, registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to further improve upon his disappointing 4.54 ERA and 1.33 WHIP when he does battle against the Twins on Sunday.

On the plus side for fantasy managers, the 33-year-old hurler piled up six strikeouts while issuing only one base on balls. Lorenzen, returning from an oblique strain, got up to 85 pitches in his second rehab start six days ago, but the Royals didn’t let him begin the fifth at 82 pitches tonight. As a result, Daniel Lynch IV ended up with a win for throwing two scoreless frames out of the pen. Lorenzen allowed three hits, walked two and struck out three. He’s due to make his next start Thursday against the Rangers.
