Ellis is back for another stint on Long Island this year after being released a couple weeks ago by the Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old righty hasn’t appeared in the majors since making 10 appearances (eight starts) between the Royals, Rays and Orioles from 2019-2022.

The 31-year-old righty was pitching this year for the Long Island Ducks of the independent Atlantic League. He’s back in affiliated ball with Arizona as organizational pitching depth.

Ellis decided to rest the open market rather than accept an outright assignment from the Orioles. The 30-year-old thew just 4 1/3 innings in the majors this season before undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder in May.
