Jarren Duran is batting eighth against A’s lefty Jeffey Springs on Tuesday.
It’s the lowest he’s hit since May 2024, but it’s better than sitting against a southpaw, like he did on Saturday. Duran has an .877 OPS against righties this season, but he’s come in at just .581 versus lefties.
Jarren Duran is in left field for Monday’s series opener against the Athletics.
It’s Duran’s first appearance in right field since the 2022 campaign. Red Sox manager Alex Cora hinted that Wilyer Abreu (calf) has a good chance to return next week, so we’re not anticipating Duran spending too much additional time as Roman Anthony’s replacement. It’s an interesting short-term solution to get Ceddanne Rafaela back in center field.
Jarren Duran is out of Boston’s lineup against a left-hander Tuesday versus the Guardians.
In spite of Duran’s big game yesterday, Nate Eaton is playing left field over him today. Duran is batting just .208/.254/.329 against left-handers this season.
Jarren Duran had a three-run inside-the-park homer, a double and two walks as the Red Sox bested the Pirates 5-2 on Sunday
The homer was a line drive to right center that wound up in the triangle at Fenway Park, and he was able to score standing up. It was his 14th homer to go along with 35 doubles and 12 triples. The only negative today was that he was caught stealing for the first time since May 17; he had been 10-for-10 since.
