Bucs GM Jason Licht said at the end of training camp that Godwin was likely to play in Week 5 or later, so a Week 4 return would be a great outcome for the veteran wideout. We remain skeptical that he will actually be ready by next week, but Fowler’s reporting at least indicates that things are going smoothly in Godwin’s rehab. Emeka Egbuka and Mike Evans will hold things down until Godwin returns. If he looks anything like he did in 2024, Godwin will be a problem for both wideouts. He averaged 7.1 receptions for 82 yards in his seven appearances last year. It might take a few more weeks, but Godwin should be back in the WR2 ranks before midseason.

No real surprises here after both Godwin and Wirfs were ruled out earlier in the week. The Buccaneers enter Week 2 in a similar situation to their first game of the season, a game that saw rookie Emeka Egbuka and veterans Mike Evans and Sterling Shepard dominate targets from quarterback Baker Mayfield.

No surprise here as Godwin missed practice on Friday and Wirfs was limited. Godwin’s target date to return remains at Week 5 at the earliest. The 29-year-old receiver was back on the practice field earlier this week, which is positive, but he never had a realistic chance of suiting up in Week 2. Tampa Bay will continue to rely on Emeka Egbuka and Mike Evans in the passing game until Godwin returns.

Godwin’s downgrade could be part of the plan to ease him back in, so we are not sounding the alarm at this time. The veteran wide receiver is expected to return around Weeks 5 or 6, though we have a long way to go until then. For now, fantasy managers can assume that Godwin’s slow-paced recovery is on track until further notice. Buccaneers OT Tristan Wirfs was limited again on Friday.
