Bengals signed QB Mike White, formerly of the Bills.
The Bengals are scrambling for practice squad quarterbacks after losing Joe Burrow (toe) for most of the rest of the regular season. Jake Browning will take over at QB with Burrow sidelined, and White — who completed 12-of-24 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns for Buffalo in the preseason — could eventually make his way onto the game day roster. The Bengals also signed QB Sean Clifford, formerly of the Packers.
Bills released QB Mike White.
White had a brutal Week 18 showing for the Bills last year, completing 3-of-11 passes for 28 yards. He fared slightly better during the preseason this month, completing 12-of-24 passes for 166 yards and two touchdowns. He may be able to find a spot on an NFL practice squad this season.
Mike White completed 3-of-11 passes for 28 yards in the Bills’ Week 18 loss to the Patriots.
White played the entire fourth quarter in place of Mitchell Trubisky but wasn’t able to get anything going for the Bills. His three completions were all around the line of scrimmage, and White badly underthrew a couple of deep passes to Keon Coleman. The Bills did sign Mike White through 2025, so he will presumably enter next season in a competition for the backup job in Buffalo but today didn’t help his case.
Bills signed QB Mike White to a one-year contract extension.
White will now be under contract through the 2025 season. The long-time backup signed with the Bills practice squad this offseason after being released by the Dolphins and was recently signed off the practice squad ahead of Week 18’s game against the Patriots. White has not thrown a pass this season and has a career passing line of 2219-9-13 in 14 games played.
