2025 Player Outlook

Singer posted a 3.71 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across a career high 179.2 IP in 2024, and he’ll need to sustain his near-50% ground ball rate as he heads to Great American Ball Park. Home runs haven’t really been an issue for Singer in his career (1.08 HR/9), and his ground ball rate (49.2%) has remained steady throughout his entire career. Singer won’t blow anyone away with his Stuff+ metrics, and he’s likely going to reside in the low-20s in terms of his strikeout rate. The veteran righty might want to consider more sinkers and less four-seamers in his new home park, but he has a good team backing him, and 10-12 wins with an ERA in the low-4s seems more than feasible for Singer in 2025.

Singer punched out nine batters on the afternoon while walking three. The only hit that he allowed was a leadoff triple to Geraldo Perdomo to start the game, who then scored the Diamondbacks’ lone run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Singer generated 13 swings and misses on 95 pitches on the day — seven on his sweeper — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent. Unfortunately, the Reds waited to explode with run support until after Singer exited, so he had to settle for a no-decision. He now holds a 4.06 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and a 132/52 K/BB ratio over 137 1/3 innings on the season. He’ll do battle against the Cardinals his next time out on Saturday.

The 29-year-old right-hander also issued four walks on the evening while recording a pair of strikeouts. The Pirates got to him for three runs in the opening inning, including a solo blast off the bat of Bryan Reynolds. They tacked on another while chasing Singer in the fourth inning. He generated just five whiffs on 86 pitches on the night, posting a miserable CSW of 17 percent. He’ll look to bounce back as he brings a 4.53 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and a 113/48 K/BB ratio (119 1/3 innings) into Tuesday’s matchup against the Phillies.
