Daz Cameron went 2-for-4 with a home run Wednesday against the Reds.
Cameron’s homer off Andrew Abbott was projected at 437 feet. It was his first in 17 appearances for the Brewers this season. He’ll likely keep serving in a platoon role against lefties until Blake Perkins returns.
Joey Ortiz finished 0-for-5 while his Brewers teammates were scoring nine runs Wednesday against the Reds.
The Brewers might need to look at adding another shortstop candidate; Ortiz hasn’t sported an average better than .200 or an OPS better than .520 since Apr. 16, and there isn’t really anyone in the minors to replace him. Ortiz’s four balls in play today had a combined xBA of .280.
Jose Trevino doubled twice and had three of the Reds’ four hits in Wednesday’s loss to the Brewers.
Trevino also got a nice nod earlier in the day, as the Reds chose to put Tyler Stephenson at DH on the All-Star ballot and list Trevino as their catcher. Trevino, who was the Reds’ starter while Stephenson was hurt, is batting .294/.325/.487 in 127 plate appearances. That .812 OPS is 175 points better than his career mark of .637 entering the year.
White Sox transferred RHP Miguel Castro from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list.
Castro will miss the remainder of the 2025 season with a torn patellar tendon, so this is just a procedural move that clears a 40-man roster spot for Ryan Cusick after Cusick was claimed off waivers.
White Sox placed INF Lenyn Sosa on the 10-day injured list with a right hip flexor strain.
Tim Elko was called up from Triple-A Charlotte to take Sosa’s place on the roster. The 25-year-old will need to miss at least a week-plus with the injury, and if it’s a minimum stint on the IL he could return June 13. There’s a pretty decent chance he won’t be back until later in June, however, based on previous hip flexor injuries.
Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell said he feels “better than when I first got here.”
Mitchell was a home run waiting to happen as a rookie, turning 56 touches into 489 yards and two scores in 2023 before going down with a torn ACL late in the season. He returned late in the following season but didn’t have the same burst. He ran 15 times for 30 yards in five regular season appearances and did not touch the ball on offense in the playoffs. Even if Mitchell returns to form in 2025, there isn’t much room for him to carve out a meaningful role. Derrick Henry put together a career year in his first season with the Ravens and just re-upped his contract with the team. Justice Hill is also coming off a high-water mark campaign, racking up 42 receptions as the team’s third-down back. Mitchell may pitch in the occasional splash play, but fantasy managers don’t need to dig that deep in most formats.
