Juan Soto had a solo homer and an RBI double Tuesday as the Mets edged the Nationals 5-4 in 10 innings.

Jeff McNeil delivered the game-winning hit in the 10th. Soto is 14-for-37 with four homers, eight RBI and 13 walks in his last 11 games, raising his OPS from .755 to .840.

Griffin Canning yielded four runs in 5 1/3 innings Tuesday in a no-decision against the Nationals.

Nathaniel Lowe and CJ Abrams homered off him. Canning has pitched just 17 innings and given up 12 runs over his last four outings. He still has a nice 3.22 ERA for the season, but his time in the rotation might be running out with Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea on the road back. He’s slated to face the Rays next time out.

MacKenzie Gore tossed six innings of two-run ball Tuesday in a no-decision against the Mets.

He left with a two-run lead than was erased in the eighth inning. Gore allowed five hits, walked none and struck out six in the 89-pitch outing. Maybe the Nationals would have let him go back out for the seventh at 80-85 pitches, but 89 was apparently a few too many. He remains 3-5 with a 2.88 ERA and a league-high 114 strikeouts, and he’s due to face the Marlins at home on Sunday.

Despite allowing only an inherited runner to score, Kyle Finnegan was charged with his fourth blown save Tuesday against the Mets.

Finnegan came on with a runner on second and two outs in the eighth and gave up a game-tying single to Pete Alonso, who was thrown out trying to stretch it into a double. Finnegan then pitched a flawless ninth with the score tied. The Nationals, though, went on to lose the game in 10 innings. Finnegan threw only 11 pitches tonight, so he’ll be good to go Wednesday.

CJ Abrams homered and doubled twice in a losing cause Tuesday against the Mets.

Abrams busted out of a drought that had seen him go 7-for-56 with one extra-base hit in his previous 15 games. This is the second time in his career that he’s had three extra-base hits in game. He has nine homers, two triples and 14 doubles through 53 games this season.

Evan Carter had an outstanding night at the dish in Tuesday’s 16-4 lopsided victory over the Twins, going 3-for-5 with a homer, four runs scored, three RBI and a walk.

Carter drew a walk in the fourth inning and scored on a two-run single by Kyle Higashioka. He then singled in the fifth and scored on a two-run knock off the bat of Josh Jung. The 22-year-old outfielder then clobbered a 394-foot (101.9 mph EV) two-run blast off of Justin Topa in the sixth inning that made it a 10-3 ballgame. He also added an RBI single in the eighth and scored on a sacrifice fly by Adolis Garca. With the three-hit effort, Carter is now slashing .255/.321/.451 with three homers, eight RBI and three stolen bases in his first 56 plate appearances with the Rangers.
