Patiño has yet to make it back to the big leagues after undergoing Tommy John surgery last May. The 25-year-old righty is just a few years removed from being one of the more intriguing pitching prospects in the game. He’ll be a fascinating reclamation project for an organization willing to roll the dice.

The 25-year-old former top prospect was non-tendered by the Padres back in November. He’s still in the process of recovering from Tommy John surgery that he underwent in May and isn’t expected to be ready to return until after the All-Star break in 2025.

All of these were easy cuts. Patiño, the former top prospect whom the Padres got back from the White Sox off waivers last winter, underwent Tommy John surgery in May. He’ll almost surely be offered a minor league contract to stick around.
