Kristaps Porzingis finished with 14 points (3-of-7 FGs), six rebounds, two assists, one steal and three blocks in an 84-80 loss to Serbia on Saturday.
Latvia is now 1-2 in EuroBasket, and their one win was when Porzingis scored 26 points in a narrow win over Estonia. Outside of that, Porzingis has been fairly disappointing. He’ll look to bounce back on against Portugal on Monday to help Latvia get back on track.
Kristaps Porzingis finished with 26 points, seven rebounds, an assist and two blocks across 27 minutes in Friday’s win over Estonia.
KP led all scorers in this one as no other player finished with more than 13. Latvia came away with a narrow 72-70 victory over Estonia, so Porzingis’ game-leading point total was crucial in securing the win. Expect him to continue posting big scoring totals as Latvia’s preferred option on offense.
Kristaps Porzingis struggled on Wednesday and finished with 10 points (3-of-12 FGs), four rebounds, one assist, one steal and six turnovers in a 93-73 loss to Turkey.
Porzingis looked good in the scrimmages leading up to EuroBasket, but he struggled in Latvia’s first game of the tournament. He had more turnovers than missed shots and missed all five of his attempts from deep. They’ll need him to be better to bounce back in their next game.
Kristaps Porziņģis (illness) said during an interview on Monday that he feels “great” after struggling with illness during this past spring’s playoffs.
Porziņģis was sidelined by an illness late in the regular season and never seemed to get back on track physically. The 7-foot-2 forward/center struggled with fatigue, which limited his playing time as the Celtics were ultimately eliminated in the second round. Traded to the Hawks just before the draft, Porziņģis said he did not do much during June, and the time off has been beneficial. Porziņģis is preparing to represent Latvia at FIBA EuroBasket, which begins in late August. A healthy Porziņģis can be an excellent fantasy asset next season, playing off of Trae Young and sharing the frontcourt with Jalen Johnson and Onyeka Okongwu. However, his medical history will likely impact his value in fantasy drafts.
