Dak Prescott (hamstring) said he’s “fully healthy” going into Cowboys training camp.

Prescott, who underwent hamstring surgery after a season-ending injury last fall, said he has one more checkup with the team doctor before getting the green light for a full training camp. It’ll be an important camp for Prescott in his first year under new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, who said last month that Dak is “in the developmental stage” in learning the new offense. Before his Week 9 injury in 2024, Prescott ranked 23rd out of 31 qualifying QBs in accuracy. This year Prescott will finally have a viable No. 2 wideout in George Pickens, who the Cowboys acquired in June. Prescott has been effusive in his praise of Pickens as a deep ball threat who can make the Dallas offense more explosive in 2025.

Cowboys HC Brian Schottenheimer said QB Dak Prescott is “in the developmental phase” during Thursday’s media availability.

“There are things we’re tweaking with Dak,” added Schottenheimer, who wouldn’t elaborate if that involved addressing Prescott’s ‘here we go’ cadence. Schottenheimer did offer “the biggest thing with the cadence ... is getting all the quarterbacks to kind of sound the same.” Last year, Prescott signed a four-year contract extension worth $240 million. His 2024 campaign, however, was cut short due to a season-ending hamstring injury in Week 9.

The Dallas Morning News reports that Dak Prescott (hamstring) will be a limited participant when the Cowboys begin voluntary workouts on Monday.

On Saturday, Prescott declared that he “could play today” if he had to, now four months removed from hamstring surgery. Monday’s workouts should provide clarity as to the comment’s veracity. New head coach Brian Schottenheimer could have begun voluntary workouts last week, an opportunity shared by all first-year head coaches, but Schotty instead chose to delay the process. Doing so, perhaps, to provide his quarterback with an extra week of prep time—or, maybe, it was to give the front office one last chance to sign Micah Parsons to a record-setting megadeal before team activities begin. Fantasy managers, stay tuned.

Cowboys QB Dak Prescott said he “could play today” if he had to.

That’s now consecutive positive reports on the Cowboys’ franchise quarterback after he tore his hamstring last season. While the efficacy of his words could be questioned considering he is now four months removed from major surgery on a primary muscle, Cowboys fans and fantasy managers alike welcome the continued positive news regarding his recovery outlook. All roads seem to be pointing to a return to the gridiron at some point this offseason.
