Luis Robert Jr. remains out of the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Tigers.
Robert will sit out his second straight game as the White Sox give him some extra time off to continue making adjustments. The 27-year-old speedster has been scuffling of late, hitting .154 (8-for-52) with 19 strikeouts over his past 15 contests. It’ll be veteran Michael A. Taylor patrolling center field again on Tuesday night at Rate Field.
Adolis García is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s showdown against the Rays.
García is back in right field and batting seventh following a four-game absence as the Rangers tried to get him away from the field for a mental reset. The 32-year-old power/speed combo outfielder has been mired in one of the worst stretches of his career, when he batted .189 (17-for-90) with three homers and struck out 29 times during the month of May.
Broncos hosted free agent RB J.K. Dobbins for a visit.
The Chargers placed the UFA tender on Dobbins, meaning he has until training camp to negotiate with other teams. LA retains his rights if Dobbins doesn’t sign a deal elsewhere. The Broncos are extremely thin at running back even after spending the No. 60 overall pick on RJ Harvey. Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime are currently the candidates to back him up and both backs struggled to earn work in a talent-depleted backfield last year. Dobbins would provide a legitimate backup option for Sean Payton and could even steal some work from Harvey on early downs.
Rangers activated RHP Kumar Rocker from the 15-day injured list.
Rocker returns to take the ball on Wednesday night at hitter-friendly Steinbrenner Field against the Rays in place of an injured Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) after missing nearly six weeks with a shoulder impingement. The 25-year-old former top pitching prospect is talented enough to make a serious impact for fantasy purposes, but the results simply haven’t been there this season. We’re recommending a wait-and-see approach, especially since Rocker is likely the odd-man out once Eovaldi is ready to return in a couple weeks.
Rangers optioned RHP Codi Heuer to Triple-A Round Rock.
Heuer returns to the minors with Kumar Rocker coming off the injured list to start Wednesday’s showdown against the Rays at Steinbrenner Field. The 28-year-old righty was only with the Rangers for a couple days this week and didn’t end up getting into a game. He hasn’t officially pitched in the big leagues since back in 2021.
Pelicans lead executive Joe Dumars told NOLA.com that Zion Williamson remains a “focal point” for the franchise moving forward.
While Williamson has shown flashes of the talent many expected him to be when selected first overall in the 2019 draft, there have been availability concerns. He’s surpassed 60 games twice in six seasons in New Orleans, most recently making 30 appearances in 2024-25. Add in the off-court concerns, including Williamson being named in a recent lawsuit , and it’s fair to question his place within the Pelicans’ hierarchy. Based on his recent comments, Dumars does not appear to share those concerns. “I’ve had really good conversations with Zion,” Dumars said. “We’ve had lunch. Dinner. Watched playoff games together. We’ve done it all. I’ve had some real honest conversations with him. Some real direct and honest conversations. We’re going to go forward with Zion. He’s going to continue to be a focal point here as we go forward.”
