Welcome to the DFS Dart Board for NFL Week 14!
If you're new to Fantasy Alarm/DFS Alarm, the Dart Board is an add-on to the Playbook that I started three or four seasons ago. It came about when I was building GPP lineups and realized I needed more salary relief. As I dug through my notes to see who stood out the most among those players at a more affordable price, it hit me. When I put players in the Playbook, I am thinking primarily about cash lineup plays -- guys with a high floor who I could conceivably put into my core-group and build a lineup around. After those players, I would mix in a handful of guys who had boatloads of upside and were in soft match-ups, but I wasn’t paying as much attention to their salary as I should have. And that's where the Dart Board came into play.
Every now and then, when building lineups while using particular stacks, you need some salary relief. You need a guy who may not be minimally priced, but low enough to give you the flexibility you need to get someone like Dalvin Cook or DK Metcalf in as a flex play or something. Occasionally you may see a min-priced QB or TE in here, but more often than not, this space is reserved for running backs and wide receivers who are $5,500 and lower on FanDuel or like $5,000 or lower on Draft Kings.
Now while we call this a Dart Board, keep in mind that every player has been carefully researched. We're not up here picking players all willy-nilly, desperately hoping they hit. We're looking for the cheapest bargains possible who still have the strongest potential to give you at least a 3-5x return on what you pay.
All set? Great. Let's take a look at who we've got this week...

---|---|---|---|---|
RB | Jermar Jefferson | DET @ DEN Sun 4:05 | 4000 | 5100 |
No D'Andre Swift and, from the sounds of everything right now, no Jamaal Williams either as he was a late-week add to the reserve/COVID list. Jefferson profiles better as a lead runner than Godwin Igwebuike and he is likely to see the bulk of the rushing work, at least in the early downs. We have seen Jefferson catch passes before so it's not a lock that we're looking at a straight split, but if you need to pay down and you're playing on either FanDuel or Yahoo, Jefferson could be a huge bargain. WR | Tre'Quan Smith | DET @ DEN Sun 4:05 | 4800 | 5600 |
He's not exactly a bargain price on FanDuel, but Smith just barely missed the cut for the Playbook so I felt compelled to get him into the Dart Board and into your lineups. The Jets secondary is incredibly soft and they've allowed 21 touchdowns through the air. Given the fact that Smith has been the most-targeted receiver over the last four weeks and Deonte Harris is suspended, Smith falls in as a fantastic bargain. Game Type: CASH & GPP Weather: Mostly sunny | ||||
WR | Josh Reynolds | NO @ NYJ Sun 1:00 | 4100 | 5300 |
While Amon-Ra St. Brown is garnering all the extra attention after his game-winning touchdown catch, I'm still more of a fan of Reynolds and the work he's done in Detroit in such a short time. He's also significantly cheaper. As a guy who is seeing the second-highest snap count and second-most targets on the team, he's also not going to see the toughest coverage. He matches up real well against Ronald Darby this week, so if you're in need of a pay-down on DK, he could be worth a look. Game Type: CASH & GPP Weather: Sunny | ||||
WR | Donovan Peoples-Jones | NO @ NYJ Sun 1:00 | 3900 | 5200 |
As stated in the DFS Playbook, there aren't a whole lot of receiving options in Cleveland right now; at least not many we'd be interested in. Jarvis Landry will likely see the highest target share with Austin Hopper a potential second. That should leave DPJ as a decent dart-throw as Kevin Stefanski and Bake Mayfield are going to want to take some shots downfield at some point. With no Marlon Humphrey in the Ravens secondary, we could see some interesting passing work from Cleveland. Game Type: CASH & GPP Weather: Sunny | ||||
WR | Joshua Palmer | BUF @ TB Sun 4:25 | 3000 | 4700 |
This could be my favorite dart-throw of the week as most people will look to Jalen Guyton as the bargain wideout. But Guyton is a deep threat who will work on the opposite side of the field from Mike Williams while Palmer will get the work out of the slot which is where Keenan Allen lines up most of the time. If Justin Herbert likes to lean so much on Allen, then Palmer could be a reliable target for him given he'll be running a similar route tree. Game Type: CASH & GPP Weather: Cloudy | ||||
WR | Keelan Cole | LV @ KC Sun 1:00 | 3100 | 4700 |
*IMPEMBA SPECIAL* Ok, this is a true dart for the week but the numbers on this one make some sense and if you are looking for another min-price option and a potential pivot off of someone like Josh Palmer who may be chalky then take a peak at Cole. He was inactive last week but in Week 12 he played 96% of the team's offensive snaps with Corey Davis out of the lineup. Now the Jets are not only missing Corey Davis but also Elijah Moore. The Jets are expected to be trailing this game which means more passing opportunities against the Saints pass defense which is how you want to attack them given their No.2 ranked run defense. Game Type: GPP Weather: Mostly sunny |
