Welcome to the DFS Dart Board for NFL Week 17!
If you're new to Fantasy Alarm/DFS Alarm, the Dart Board is an add-on to the Playbook that I started three or four seasons ago. It came about when I was building GPP lineups and realized I needed more salary relief. As I dug through my notes to see who stood out the most among those players at a more affordable price, it hit me. When I put players in the Playbook, I am thinking primarily about cash lineup plays -- guys with a high floor who I could conceivably put into my core-group and build a lineup around. After those players, I would mix in a handful of guys who had boatloads of upside and were in soft match-ups, but I wasn’t paying as much attention to their salary as I should have. And that's where the Dart Board came into play.
Every now and then, when building lineups while using particular stacks, you need some salary relief. You need a guy who may not be minimally priced, but low enough to give you the flexibility you need to get someone like Dalvin Cook or DK Metcalf in as a flex play or something. Occasionally you may see a min-priced QB or TE in here, but more often than not, this space is reserved for running backs and wide receivers who are $5,500 and lower on FanDuel or like $5,000 or lower on Draft Kings.
Now while we call this a Dart Board, keep in mind that every player has been carefully researched. We're not up here picking players all willy-nilly, desperately hoping they hit. We're looking for the cheapest bargains possible who still have the strongest potential to give you at least a 3-5x return on what you pay.
Ready? Let's get to it!

RB | Jaret Patterson | DEN @ LAC Sun 4:05 | 4800 | 5400 |
With Antonio Gibson officially ruled out, Patterson becomes a strong option as the lead back in this Washington offense. The Eagles are only allowing 104.6 rushing yards per game this season, but they've allowed 15 rushing touchdowns on the year and they've allowed the ninth-most fantasy points per game to the running back position. The workloads for running backs have been a little erratic for Washington this year, but with limited options on the roster, he could be in for a decent amount of touches this week. Game Type: CASH & GPP Weather: Sunny
WR | Gabe Davis | JAC @ NE Sun 1:00 | 5000 | 5300 |
Look who's back this week! Put away your shares of Isaiah McKenzie and start stocking up on Davis again, especially with Emmanuel Sanders likely to miss this week's games. Cole Beasley also returns to handle the work inside, but Davis is the guy who appears to be more explosive and lives on Josh Allen's radar inside the red zone. There's always a concern regarding the stamina of a player just coming off COVID, but Davis has had nearly a full week of practice already and has yet to report any major issues. Game Type: CASH & GPP Weather: Cloudy
WR | Breshad Perriman | LV @ IND Sun 1:00 | 4300 | 4700 |
I like Perriman this week going up against the Jets, a team he endured a year with in between his two seasons with the Bucs. I LOVE Perriman this week if Antonio Brown is out or, at the least, limited. I don't think we need to dive into the metrics that show just how bad the Jets are in coverage, but just keep this play in the back of your mind, especially if you're looking for a salary saver on DK. UPDATE: Losing steam here with the news that Antonio Brown will play and so will Mike Evans, albeit in a limited capacity. Just how limited will Evans be? Not sure, which is why Perriman stays here as a GPP dart-throw. Game Type: GPP Weather: Partly sunny
WR | Braxton Berrios | HOU @ SF Sun 4:05 | 3700 | 5300 |
LATE ADD – Given the pricing on DK, Berrios is going to get another look this week, especially with 17 targets over his last three games and Jamison Crowder being doubtful for today's game. The Bucs secondary has had its weaknesses and they're also likely to, at some point during this likely beat-down, take their foot off the gas. Garbage time counts and while you never want to rely on that, the price tag makes it a lot more palatable. The DFS Ownership Forecaster is showing a high rate here, so we can probably even sneak him into cash lineups to build up elsewhere. Game Type: CASH & GPP Weather: Cloudy
WR | Antoine Wesley | LV @ IND Sun 1:00 | 3600 | 5100 |
Wesley has been a nice, little surprise for the Cardinals here at the end of the season. Since DeAndre Hopkins landed on IR, Wesley has received close to an 80-percent snap share with 12 targets over his last two games. He lines up on the outside and will be opposite Trevon Diggs a bunch which will keep most people off of him. However, while Diggs has been an interception machine, he's also been beaten on plenty of plays and has allowed the eighth-most receiving yards among all the defensive backs in the league. It's super-contrarian as well as off-the-radar which has me pushing the chips in on him. Game Type: GPP Weather: Partly sunny |
