Top Tier

Lance McCullers Jr. (R), SP HOU – The strikeout numbers continue to be there for McCullers, but he is coming off a disappointing outing against Cleveland and now faces a surging Mariners team as well. Fortunately, Seattle strikeouts A TON. Last night’s starter Luis García (R) had nine strikeouts in just 4.2 innings. McCullers should be an all-format play but for sure a high-end GPP option.

Charlie Morton (R), SP ATL – Morton has been pretty reliable this season, posting a 3.00 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP over his last 10 starts. On the year he has 130 strikeouts over 111 innings. He has DOMINATED the Mets this season, going 1-0 with a 1.90 ERA while striking out 26 over 19 innings which span three starts.

Mid-Tier

Julio Urías (L), SP LAD – Urias is coming off a strong start against the Giants whom he faces tonight. In that outing, he allowed just one run on three hits while striking out five over seven innings. Overall the Giants have given him some trouble as he has a 4.50 ERA over three starts. The Giants are a good offense but Urias also has put away type stuff. GPP only option.

Sandy Alcantara (R) SP MIA – Alcantara has allowed 16 runs over his last 18.1 innings which is not good. That said, his season ERA is still only 3.23 ERA with 105 strikeouts over 119.2 innings. Over his last 10 starts, Alcantara has a 2.87 ERA so the talent is there. Willing to run him against Baltimore tonight and see if he gets back on track.

Kenta Maeda (R), SP MIN – Maeda has faced the Tigers three times already this season, going 1-0 with a 2.81 ERA while striking out 21 over 16 innings. The Tigers offense is very boom or bust and they strike out a lot. With Maeda pitching better of late I am willing to run him here in GPPs.

Value Tier

Jordan Montgomery (L), SP NYY – Tampa may have added Nelson Cruz (R) (R) (R) (R) and that will certainly help them against LHP but on the year they rank 28th in batting average, 26th in wOBA, and 26th in OPS against southpaws. They also have the third-highest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching this season at 26.9%. Montgomery has faced the Rays four times this season and is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA while having struck out 26 over 23.1 innings.

José Suarez (L), SP LAL – Pitching deep into games is really the issue when it comes to Suarez tonight but this matchup against a Rockies team on the road as a southpaw is one I really want to target. If he can pitch at least five innings and put himself in line for the win we are cooking with gas as he has tossed up 22.2 and 18.3 DK points in his last two wins.
