Atlanta Braves vs Milwaukee Brewers

Atlanta Braves

Max Fried – Fried had a strong 2021 season, going 14-7 with a 3.04 ERA while striking out 158 over 165.2 innings. Down the stretch he was incredible for the Braves, going 5-0 with a 1.60 ERA over his last 10 starts. He has yet to face the Brewers this season but draws a favorable matchup with the Brewers ranking 27th in average, 23rd in wOBA and 26th in wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season. Milwaukee also had the eight highest strikeout rate against southpaws at 24.0%.

Milwaukee Brewers 

Brandon Woodruff – Don’t let the 9-10 record deceive you, Woodruff was nailing this season, posting a 2.56 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP with 211 strikeouts over 179.1 innings. He did face the Braves once this season and it was one of his lesser outings as he allowed three runs on eight hits over 5.1 innings. At home this season Woodruff posted a 2.31 ERA with 104 strikeouts over 85.2 innings.

 

Los Angeles Dodgers vs San Francisco Giants

Los Angeles Dodgers

Julio Urías – Many were expected a big season from Urias in 2021 and he delivered, going 20-3 with a 2.96 ERA while striking out 195 over 185.2 innings. He and the Giants are very familiar with one another as Urias faced them five times this season, going 2-1 with a 3.38 ERA. He struck out 33 over 29.1 innings. Urias was actually better on the road this season, posting a 2.71 ERA while going 13-2.

San Francisco Giants

Kevin Gausman – One of the biggest surprises of the 2021 season has to be Kevin Gausman as he put together a breakout season, going 14-6 with a 2.81 ERA while striking out a career best 227 over 192 innings. Early on it looked like Gausman was going to win the Cy Young but he came back to Earth a bit in the second half of the season and over his final 10 games he posted a 3.99 ERA. Gausman has had three starts against the Dodgers this season and he also held his own, going 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA while striking out 16 over 14 innings.
