QUARTERBACKS

Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina) Opp @ARST ($8.5K DK)

Far and away the top quarterback on the slate and a must play in cash games. The sophomore, who leads the FBS in passing efficiency and in completion percentage (80.2%), has completed 69 of his 86 passes this season for 1,113 yards, 10 touchdowns and only one interception. Now he gets to face one of the worst pass defenses in the country as Arkansas State is ranked 122nd (out of 130) allowing 300.6 yards per game in the air. The Red Wolves are also allowing a nation worst 16.70 yards per completion and second worst yards per attempt at 9.57. The only blemish on this elite matchup for McCall is a lower leg injury that he suffered in the first half of last Saturday’s 59-6 win over Louisiana-Monroe. Coastal Carolina coach Jamey Chadwell did state on Tuesday that he’s ready to “rock and roll”.

Clayton Tune (Houston) Opp @ TUL ($6.6K DK)

If McCall wasn’t playing against a horrible Arkansas State defense Tune would easily have the top matchup of the night against Tulane. Tulane’s pass defense really isn’t much better as they are ranked 112th allowing 275 yards in the air along with 12.28 yards per completion. Besides week 1 when Tune threw four picks against Texas Tech he has been a solid quarterback tearing off four straight wins while throwing five touchdowns against just two interceptions. With a 33 point team implied total and a near bargain basement price of $6.6K Tune makes for a fine Super-Flex play.

Others to consider:

Michael Pratt (Tulane) $7.8K GPP

RUNNING BACKS

Coastal Carolina Runners Opp @ARST

As good as a quarterback that McCall is his team runs the ball 64% of the time (12th in country) and pretty much does whatever it wants to do on the ground. C-C ranks sixth in the nation with a 257.4 yard per game average at 6.4 yards per carry and has a three headed monster that will run over Arkansas State at will. Reese White ($5.7K DK) and Shermari Jones ($6.3K DK) are both the top runners on the slate but the edge goes to White due to a $600 discount from Jones. White is averaging 7.1 yards per carry and has six touchdowns on 374 yards. Jones is probably the better runner but has missed the last two games to a lower body injury. He has 288 yards in three games with three touchdowns and it appears he is ready to go this week. The sleeper here may be Braydon Bennett ($4.7K DK). With Jones returning he goes back to a RB3 (if that’s what you want to call it) but still leads all C-C runners with an 8.2 YPA and is second in touchdowns with four. Bennett should be lowest owned of the three and makes for a fine GPP value play at only $4.7K. Coastal Carolina should have no problem at all against an Arkansas State rush defense that is the worst in the country allowing 6.68 yards per rush and second worst in yards allowed (263.2).

Alton McCaskill (Houston) Opp @TUL ($7.5K DK)

McCaskill is a true freshman and has taken over the RB1 spot in Houston with style. He was dominant last weekend against Tulsa when he ran for three touchdowns plus had 77 yards on 17 carries. The highest rated RB that UH has ever landed now has 7 touchdowns in his last four games and is already showing that he is a complete back with 11 receptions on 13 targets for 78 yards and another score on the season. Tulane is allowing 207 yards per game rushing making McCaskill a solid play. The only issue is his $7.5K price tag and with the reduced salaries of the C-C runners it probably makes McCaskill more of a GPP play on this slate.

Ygenio Booker (Tulane) Opp UH ($4.2K DK)

After Coastal Carolina’s Bennett at $4.7K the running back list gets real ugly. Booker is a versatile runner/receiver that could make some GPP lineups in the flex spot due to his ability to catch the ball out of the Tulane backfield.  Cameron Carroll is the RB1 but has been too inconsistent and has only ran the ball 14 times over the last two weeks. Booker has made himself useful and is second on the team in total receptions with 14 on 19 targets and has actually outrushed Carroll over the last two games.

Others to consider:

Cameron Carroll (Tulane) $5.3K GPP

Ta’Zhawn Henry (Houston) $3.8K GPP

WIDE RECEIVERS

Jaivon Heiligh (Coastal Carolina)  Opp @ARST ($6.7K DK)

Heiligh is McCall’s favorite target as he leads the team with 24 catches for 499 yards (20.8 YPR) and four scores. He did get shutout last week against Louisiana-Monroe but had a touchdown in every other game this season. Heiligh and teammate tight end Isaiah Likely will be popular choices tonight as Arkansas State has one of the worst passing defenses in the nation allowing over 300 yards per game in the air at 9.6 YPC.

Nathaniel Dell (Houston) Opp @ TUL ($7.1K DK)

Houston is gaining a reputation for finding these small but fast receivers out of junior college that are FBS ready. Dell is the latest and he has become the alpha, leading the Cougars by more than double the closest receiver in targets (46), receptions (32) and total yards (425). He has now caught at least six passes in four of five games and has seen a minimum of seven targets in every game. Houston averages the most plays run (76.8) out of the four teams on this slate and as the second highest implied offense expect Dell to see plenty of action against a Tulane pass defense that is nearly as inept as Arkansas State- allowing 275 yards in the air per game.

Isaiah Likely (Coastal Carolina)  Opp @ ARST ($5.5K DK)

Another stud out of Coastal Carolina. Likely is the only tight end in the nation with a 90+ PFF grade this season (93.9) and is a threat any time he takes the field. Coming off a monster game last week hauling in five receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns and if C-C wasn’t leading 38-3 at halftime he would have gone for more. Likely is going to be popular due to his price and discount from Heiligh but at least one, if not both, need to be in your main lineup

Arkansas State Receivers  Opp C-C

For being 20 point home dogs Arkansas State has a chance to keep this game competitive. We have two high scoring offenses with lots of speed and a 73 point total. They have won only one game but have lost one score games against Memphis and Tulsa. Corey Rucker ($6.1K) is a GPP play due to pricing but the second year receiver is a burner with a stat line to prove it – 28 receptions for 458 yards and six touchdowns. More cash game interest may go to Jeff Foreman ($4.4K) due to a nice value tag for a receiver that is second on the team in targets (42) and receptions (22) for 360 yards and two touchdowns.

Others to consider:

Christian Trahan (Houston) $3.6K GPP Value

Tre’Vailance Hunt (Arkansas State) $4.0K GPP Value

Kameron Brown (Coastal Carolina) $4.5K DK
