We have one more day before us DFS players, and the athletes themselves, get a couple days off to recharge the batteries and get ready for the “second half.” There are quite a few arms that you can get for a cheaper price than expected, and as always, the value bats are a plenty. Grab your coffee and let’s dive into today’s best value arms and bats!

Both Sites

John Nogowski, 1B PIT ($2,500 FD/$2,700 DK) - Since coming to Pittsburgh, Nogowski has been a nice boost to the team’s lineup. In six games with Pittsburgh, he’s hitting .522 with a 1.186 OPS. He has yet to homer, but he’s notched four RBI and three runs scored, while registering multiple hits in four of those six games. We are going to ride the hot bat here!

Luis Castillo, SP CIN ($8,400 FD/$7,900 DK) - After a rough start, Castillo has turned it around, and he has at least 29 FanDuel points in six straight starts. During this span, he’s faced Milwaukee twice, and has a 14:6 K/BB ratio across 12.2 innings of work, and totaling a combined 77 FanDuel points. It’s a tough matchup with Milwaukee having Brandon Woodruff on the mound, but Castillo’s strikeout upside is high today, and he’s familiar with this team.

Oscar Mercado, OF CLE ($2,100 FD/$2,400 DK) - Mercado has hit safely in three straight games and he’s stolen a base in two straight as well. Mercado has a .286 average at home this year and he’s hitting .375 over the last week. Kansas City’s Carlos Hernandez has a 6.2 BB/9 and has a 6.30 SIERA on the season. UPDATE: This game has been PPD.

FanDuel

Brandon Nimmo, OF NYM ($2,800 FD) - For the year as a whole, Nimmo is hitting righties at a .293 clip and DeJong has served up a .278 average and .356 wOBA to left-handed hitters. However, Nimmo has been excellent atop the New York order, and in the month of July, he’s hitting .333 with a .389 OBP and .813 OPS. He’s recorded four multi-hit games this month, and in nine games in July, he’s scored eight times and crossed the plate himself five times. Fire him up against DeJong today.

Dylan Carlson, OF STL ($3,000 FD) - Carlson has five hits over his last three games, and Chicago’s Trevor Williams has served up a .312 average and .408 wOBA to left-handed hitters this year. Carlson has fared better against lefties, yes, but he’s hitting at the top of the order for an offense that should put up some points in this one. If you have the money, with a righty on the mound, Tyler O’Neill should be on your radar, too. UPDATE: This game has been PPD. Pivot to Nimmo.

Ian Happ, 2B/OF CHC ($2,500 FD) - Mr. Happ, meet Mr. Wainwright. Oh, you already know each other? That makes sense, considering Happ is 8-for-17 with four home runs in his career against Wainwright! Happ has been struggling of late, but in GPPs, I’ll take my chances with these kind of BvP numbers. UPDATE: This game has been PPD. Pivot to Nimmo in OF. Can look to Jean Segura at 2B.

DraftKings

Robbie Grossman, OF DET ($2,900 DK) - Grossman is 5-for-7 with one home run against Jose Berrios in his career, and while we typically look to Grossman against southpaws, I’m comfortable rostering him today in a matchup against a familiar foe. He’s hitting .333 in the month of July with a 1.195 OPS, and he has an impressive 4:12 K/BB ratio, flashing his on-base prowess.

Wily Peralta, SP DET ($4,600 DK) - DraftKings is nearly paying you to roster Peralta today! He’s just $4,600 and there are four pitchers who are at least double his price today! He has at least 22 DraftKings points in two straight starts, posting an 11:0 K/BB ratio in that span. The Minnesota offense can be potent, but this price point is too cheap to pass up, and if he can muster up even just 12-16 points, that is three or four times your investment.
