On a slate with multiple studs on the mound, you’re going to need some value plays this evening, especially if you’re trying to get one or two of the likes of Zack Wheeler, Chris Sale or Walker Buehler. Below, you’ll find my favorite value bats of the night, and not one, but two starting pitchers you can use to save a little bit of money. Philadelphia is going to get a lot of love for a popular stack tonight, so I made sure to throw in two value plays there, too. All of that and more is below in today’s Value Vault for the main slate!

All Sites:

Ian Anderson, SP ATL ($8,000 FD/$8,400 DK/$40 Yahoo) - Anderson hasn’t been as lights out of late as we would have hoped, but for the 2021 season on the road, he has a 3.90 ERA with nearly one strikeout per inning. He has allowed four home runs over his last 10.2 innings of work, which I don’t love, but the 16 strikeouts in that span is exceptional for the Atlanta right-hander. What I also really like about Anderson tonight is that in the month of September versus right-handed pitching, Arizona is striking out at a 23 percent clip, and only the Angels (.210) have a lower team batting average than Arizona (.214). Additionally, in the month of September, Arizona has a slugging percentage of just .364 versus righties, and just 12 home runs across 379 at-bats (31.6 AB/HR).

Gleyber Torres, SS NYY ($3,100 FD/$3,300 DK/$11 Yahoo) - Texas’ Taylor Hearn has allowed a .266 batting average to right-handers and .343 wOBA this year. Lefties haven’t had nearly the success righties have had against the Texas southpaw, and with Torres coming on hot of late, he’s a great value play this evening. He’s hitting .375 with an .899 OPS over the last week, and for the 2021 season as a whole, he’s hitting .286 with a .747 OPS against southpaws. The New York second baseman also has a .718 OPS at home this year, and 1.100 OPS against Texas pitching.

Yahoo:

J.P. Crawford, SS SEA ($12) - Crawford is 5-for-8 against Oakland’s Cole Irvin in his career and since Irvin has reverse splits, have no fear running Crawford out there. Irvin has allowed a .290 batting average to left-handed hitters this year, while Crawford has hit southpaws at a .276 clip with a .710 OPS. The Seattle shortstop is hitting .307 with an .870 OPS in the month of September, and has hit safely in 10 of his last 13 games.

Jared Walsh, 1B LAA ($14) - I don’t know if Walsh has a personal vendetta against the Houston Astros, or at least a couple of them, because he has good BvP numbers against a few! Luis Garcia just so happens to be one of them, as Walsh is 6-for-9 with two home runs and six RBI in his career against Garcia. Beyond that, Walsh is on the best side of his splits, in that he’s at home, where’s hit .285 with an .858 OPS this season, and facing a righty. Walsh is hitting rigties at a .317 clip with a .960 OPS through 322 at-bats this year.

FanDuel:

Andrew McCutchen, OF PHI ($3,200) - I don’t want to be rude, but whenever Keegan Akin pitches, the opposing offense is always in play for a stack. Akin is 2-10 with a 6.93 ERA on the year and he has a 7.71 ERA on the road in 2021! McCutchen has a 1.056 OPS against southpaws in 2021, and over the past week overall, he has a .755 OPS. McCutchen against lefties has been an easy DFS storyline in 2021, and that should remain true this evening.

Corey Kluber, SP NYY ($8,000) - Kluber is coming off his best start since returning from injury, and in 2021, he has a 2.31 ERA at home compared to a 5.00 mark on the road. He’s allowed a measly .205 batting average at home this season, and just three home runs in 35 innings of work in Yankee Stadium. He has a 3.95 ERA over his last three starts, and gets a matchup against a Texas offense that has posted a 22.9 percent strikeout rate and .287 wOBA in the month of September. Oh, for what it’s worth, only three teams have a lower OPS against righties in September than Texas.

DraftKings:

Jose Siri, OF HOU ($2,100) - Janson Junk is pitching for the Angels tonight and he’s allowed a .308 batting average and.462 wOBA to right-handed hitters in 2021. When in the lineup, all Siri has done is rake, posting a .333 batting average and 1.108 OPS across 30 at-bats. Against righties in 2021, Siri is hitting .353 with a 1.271 OPS, and has three home runs, two stolen bases, five runs scored and five RBI across 17 at-bats. UPDATE: Siri isn’t starting. You can pivot to Jake Meyers or another OF mentioned in this article!

Matt Vierling, OF PHI ($2,500) - Not only can McCutchen hit lefties, but so can Vierling. He’s carved out a nice role in the lineup against southpaws, and he hasn’t disappointed, hitting them at .367 clip with an .854 OPS. Baltimore’s Keegan Akin has been so bad this year, and Vierling is so cheap, that I’m tossing him in any Philadelphia stack, alongside the likes of McCutchen and Bryce Harper.
