I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. When it comes to MLB DFS, the value plays to round out your lineups are just as important as paying up for the best of the best in Major League Baseball. I have identified some solid MLB DFS picks today, all of which come at a reasonable value for their expected production. Regardless of whether you’re playing on FanDuel, DraftKings or Yahoo Fantasy, here are the top value plays for your MLB DFS lineups for tonight’s main slate.

Pitchers

$8,800 FD / $8,100 DK / $35 Yahoo

The Guardians are hitting just .229 over the past week with a 23.5-percent strikeout rate. They are league average (at best) against southpaws, but they are also willing to take a walk. That’s my biggest concern with Patrick Sandoval tonight, is that his issues with walks are accentuated by Cleveland’s willingness to take a free pass. The strikeout numbers should be fine this evening, but he needs to keep the walks down to get into that fifth inning and earn the win.

$8,700 DK

Kevin Gausman is a bit expensive on FanDuel and Yahoo, but he’s rather affordable on DraftKings. The right-hander just carved up the Red Sox in his last start, and he has an impressive 17 strikeouts over his last 13.2 innings of work. The Red Sox are hitting just .208 on the road in 2022, not to mention a .206 batting average and .239 wOBA over the past week.

Hitters

$3,200 FD / $4,000 DK

Oakland’s Daulton Jefferies has been very good this season, and quite the surprise for Oakland. Lefties have had more success than righties against him, though, and you know who has been pretty damn good this year himself? Joc Pederson. These price points are too cheap for a guy with four home runs and a .920 slugging percentage over the past week. Pederson has a 1.214 OPS against right-handers this season and it looks like the wind is blowing out tonight.

$2,800 FD / $14 Yahoo

Is there a lefty on the mound that struggles against right-handed hitters? Oh, there is? Then we ride with Andrew Vaughn! The Chicago slugger is hitting .455 with a 1.273 OPS in 2022 against lefties and, if you look back at 2021, he hit lefties at a .269 clip with a .938 OPS a year ago. Royals lefty Daniel Lynch has been abused by right-handed hitters to the tune of a .325 batting average this season. Vaughn will likely be highly rostered this evening and it's easy to see why at this price point on FanDuel and Yahoo.

$2,900 FD / $2,900 DK / $15 Yahoo

If you want to get contrarian in a GPP, look at Spencer Torkelson tonight. Strikeouts have been a problem of late, but he has hit safely in three of his last four games. Plus, during this brief stretch, his average exit velocity is a solid 93.1 miles per hour and he’s posted a .348 wOBA. The Tigers' youngster hits a ton of fly balls and line drives against righties, and Chris Paddack has allowed a .261 batting average to righties this season. In 2021, though, righties hit .325 against Paddack. Torkelson shouldn’t be used in cash, but I’ll toss him in a couple of GPPs.

$2,600 FD / $2,500 DK / $11 Yahoo

Gio Urshela is no stranger to Eduardo Rodriguez, going 7-for-21 with one home run and a .364 wOBA against the former Boston southpaw over his career. Urshela has hit lefties at a .286 clip this season and he’s starting to heat up, posting a .360 batting average over his last seven games. He’s very affordable across the board, and the higher he hits in the order is just icing on the cake.
