Jacob deGrom, New York Mets ($11.4K on DK, $11.5K on FD)
Already in the MLB record books with a 0.50 ERA his first 12 starts, deGrom could tie his own personal record (31 scoreless innings) in the first inning this afternoon. He's in the midst of 30 consecutive scoreless innings and could set the Mets franchise record with three more scoreless against the Phillies. With a 7-2 record and 0.51 WHIP striking out 117 versus 10 walks over 72 innings in 2021, it's easy targeting him since all 12 of his starts come with one earned run or less in them. As a sweetener, he's 5-1 at home facing Philadelphia with a 1.97 ERA in 55 career innings.
Lance Lynn, Chicago White Sox ($9.6K on DK, $10.8K on FD)
Yes, the White Sox dropped a rare home game against the pesky Mariners last night. However, Lynn's last 10 starts yields a 6-2 record with a 2.57 ERA, 59 strikeouts in 56 innings and a .188 opponents batting average against. For his career, he's 3-1 versus Seattle with a 2.53 ERA and 37 strikeouts in five starts. He makes for a nice cash game pivot if worried about deGrom's upside being capped by the Mets limiting his workload.
Mid Tier
Hyun-Jin Ryu, Toronto ($8.2K on DK, $8.5K on FD)
With a tired bullpen behind him, Ryu could be asked to log seven or eight innings in a home tilt facing the Orioles. Last time out against them last week, he finished seven innings giving up three hits, one earned run and a walk with four strikeouts. He's also 2-0 in his career facing Baltimore with a 2.52 ERA over 25 innings. Some may worry about using Ryu at home but he's notched a 3.09 ERA in Dunedin and Buffalo through 32 innings this season.
Adam Wainwright, St. Louis ($9.1K on DK, $9K on FD)
Death, taxes and Wainwright in home starts? It's possible. For starters, he's won four straight starts against the Pirates overall and on a six-game win streak against them with his last loss occurring in 2012. At home, Wainwright owns a 2.66 ERA this season with a 0.95 WHIP striking out 54 against 14 walks in 61 innings of work. During his career facing the Pirates in St. Louis, he's 9-3 with 124 strikeouts in just over 135 innings with a 3.14 ERA.
Bargain Arms
Kyle Gibson, Texas ($6.5K on DK, $7.6K on FD)
Not sure how the pricing algorithm spits out Gibson at such a low price on Draft Kings. Since his Opening Day implosion (five earned runs in one-third of an inning) he's recorded a 1.63 ERA his last 14 starts and now ranks second in the American League in ERA (2.17) to Lance Lynn. In home starts, Gibson's ERA drops to 1.27 with a 0.96 WHIP and his team's 7-0 in them. Speculating on him extending his stretch of dominance at home versus the Royals at this price point feels like stealing money.
Adrian Houser, Milwaukee ($7K on DK, $6.5K on FD)
Not only does Houser enter this match-up as a -200 favorite, he's at home where he owns a 3.48 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. Colorado on the road owns the second highest strikeout percentage (27.1 percent) in the majors with a .102 isolated power, .254 weighted on-base average (wOBA) and 58 weighted runs created plus (wRC+) metrics. Houser can be limited by upside but could pay off in this match-up with the quality start and win bonuses if he records at least six innings with six strikeouts in them.
