The MLB DFS baseball week starts with a bang! We have an 11-game daily fantasy baseball slate across the board on all three sites for Monday, May 16th on DraftKings, FanDuel, and Yahoo. There are many MLB daily fantasy players to pore through before we come up with the MLB DFS top value plays and fantasy baseball sleepers of the night. We have many cheap pitchers on the board this evening, like minimum-priced veteran hurler Wade Miley of the Chicago Cubs facing the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates. You could also go with Baltimore Orioles rookie Kyle Bradish facing the New York Yankees, or Yusei Kikuchi of the Toronto Blue Jays in a revenge game. Then there's the entire underpriced San Francisco Giants offense in Coors, which should make them a popular MLB DFS stack tonight. With some possible rain issues on the East Coast, make sure to check out our MLB weather report before locking in those daily fantasy baseball lineups. Don't forget to use the MLB daily lineups page, MLB daily projections, and much more as you set those DFS lineups. MLB DFS is won in the trenches and that one diamond in the rough may be what puts you over into the cash column or even a big win, so let’s open up the DFS Alarm Value Vault for Monday, May 16th.

MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Wade Miley is a veteran who has been through all the MLB wars. He finally made his first start of the season after missing the first month with an elbow injury and was not good. He allowed three runs on five hits and five walks with only one strikeout in five innings against the Padres. He also only threw a strike on 37 of 64 pitches and only four of them were swinging. So, why is Miley considered a value play today? First of all, he is facing a Pirates offense that strikes out 23.6% of the time against lefties with a .138 team ISO. Second, he is at home in a pitcher-friendly park. Third, his price is only $4.4K on DK and $5.7 on FD. Make sure to check the DFS Alarm Weather Center for wind in Wrigley. If the wind is not too bad, Miley is a nice punt play in tournaments and allows you to play any bats that you like.

Yusei Kikuchi has had an up-and-down start to the season with his new team in Toronto. He is 1-1 on the season with a 4.15 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with 27 strikeouts in 26 innings. In six starts, he's now pitched a couple of solid games in a row. He is coming off a no-decision against the Yankees when he allowed only two runs on two hits and three walks, striking out seven in 5.1 innings. Kikuchi also has a 14:4 K: BB ratio over his last two starts (2.38 ERA/0.79 WHIP). He has one of the most volatile arms in the MLB but gets the revenge-game narrative tonight as he faces his former Seattle Mariners teammates who strike out 22.7% against lefties.

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Don’t look now, but J-Rod is on fire! The Mariners' top prospect and Spring Training sensation is getting comfortable in the major leagues and is swinging a hot bat. Julio Rodríguez is coming off his second home run of the season on Sunday and he is now slashing .346/.393/.519 with a .912 OPS in the month of May. The hot streak started before May 1st, though, as he is now hitting .315 with a .365 wOBA and 199.9 wRC+ over his last 20 games. Plus, Rodriguez has 10 stolen bases on the season.

The entire Giants offense is mispriced tonight in Coors. Players like LaMonte Wade Jr., Luis González, and Mike Yastrzemski are all capable of being in the Value Vault today – but I will name just one and that is Joc Pederson. Joc is the ultimate platoon bat. He sits against left-handers and hits bombs off right-handers. This season he has a .299 ISO/.347wOBA with a 40.6% flyball and 50.9% hard contact rate on the split. Meanwhile, Rockies pitcher Antonio Senzatela has an xFIP of 5.81 and is not missing any bats at all with a 4.2% K rate to lefties. Every one of Pederson’s seven home runs this season has come against right-handed pitching and there is a good chance you see one tonight.

There has been a turnaround at the plate for Joey Gallo. Yesterday, he homered for the second time in three games and had his first multi-RBI game of the year. In his last 11 games, Gallo is 9-for-30 with three home runs, four RBI, six runs, and seven walks. His average is now over .200 and his OPS has jumped from .525 to a season-high .699. Tonight, he gets the platoon advantage over rookie Kyle Bradish of the Orioles. Gallo has a near-elite .299 ISO/.368wOBA with a 47.4% flyball rate, 42.7% hard contact rate, and 31 home runs against left-handers over his last 150 games. At these prices, Gallo is viable in all formats tonight.

Gavin Sheets has been on a roll, hitting 5-for-13 with three home runs, a double, and seven RBI over his last four games. Tonight, he gets the LvR advantage over Brad Keller and has a .265 ISO/.366 wOBA with a 40.9% flyball rate and a 41.9% hard contact rate vs. righties. Keller, on the other hand, has allowed a .348 wOBA and 43% hard contact to left-handed bats over the last two seasons. Over the last four games, Sheets is averaging over 15 fantasy points a game and is in play in GPPs and part of a White Sox stack.
