Jorge Polanco is hitting fifth and playing second base against the Diamondbacks on Wednesday.
Polanco has been limited to designated hitter duties for the majority of the 2025 campaign, and while he was signed to play third for the Mariners this offseason, the 31-year-old will handle his ‘old’ position for Wednesday’s finale in Arizona. Dylan Moore is in right field, and Cole Young opens the contest on the bench.
Jorge Polanco went 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and an RBI on Sunday as the Mariners defeated the Angels in Los Angeles.
The 31-year-old infielder smacked a game-tying single into center field off of Tyler Anderson in the fifth inning that made it a 2-2 game. With his two-hit attack, Polanco is now slashing .259/.306/.476 with 10 homers, 31 RBI and two stolen bases over 184 plate appearances in his first 52 ballgames.
Jorge Polanco is back in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against the Nationals.
Seattle is finally facing a right-handed starter for the first time in three games, so Polanco is back in the lineup at DH and batting second. The extra time off can only help the 31-year-old veteran infielder from a physical standpoint.
Jorge Polanco remains out of the lineup for the third straight game on Tuesday against the Nationals.
Polanco has fallen victim to a mind-boggling run of southpaws for the Mariners as they’ve squared off against left-handed starters in three consecutive games. The 31-year-old remains limited in his capacity to swing from the right side of the dish, so he’ll open this contest on the bench. He should get back in there to face righty Trevor Williams during Wednesday’s series finale.
