Altuve smacked a two-out, two-run double off of Chris Paddack in the second inning that increased the Astros’ early lead to 5-0. He was then cut down attempting to steal third base. Altuve then tagged Paddack for a 342-foot (94.4 mph EV) solo shot to open the fourth inning, making it a 9-1 ballgame. On the season, the 35-year-old outfielder is now hitting .278/.324/.432 with 10 homers, 30 RBI and six swipes.

Altuve smacked a go-ahead two-run double off of Davis Martin in the third inning, then swiped third base and scored on an RBI double off the bat of Yainer Diaz. He also drew a walk in the contest, reaching base safely in three of his four plate appearances. The 35-year-old outfielder is in the midst of another very solid offensive season, slashing .275/.321/.416 with nine homers, 27 RBI and six stolen bases through his first 65 games.

Houston had a tough day at the plate against Shane Smith and the White Sox. Altuve managed to collect two hits and a walk to reach three times. He knocked a base hit in the first inning, drew a walk in the third, and single in the eighth. The 35-year-old second baseman is hitting a solid .266/.312/.399 with nine homers, 29 runs scored, 24 RBI, and five steals over 269 plate appearances.

It appears to be a routine off day for Altuve, who has started pretty much every game for Houston over the last three weeks. The 35-year-old veteran has also gone deep five times in his last 15 games. It’ll be top prospect Jacob Melton, who is 3-for-15 with one steal in six games since being called up from Triple-A Sugar Land, taking over in left field on Sunday afternoon in his place.
