It was two runs through four innings, but Walker opened the fifth with a walk and a double before being lifted with Christian Yelich due up. Tanner Banks entered and immediately gave up a three-run homer. Walker fell to 2-4 with a 3.53 ERA. He’s due at least one more start next week, probably against the Blue Jays, before Aaron Nola returns and takes his spot.

Friday is Aaron Nola’s normal spot in the rotation, and Nola is eligible to come off the IL on that day, but it appears he will miss at least one more turn in the rotation. Walker wasn’t great in his start in Coors Field last week, but he sets up as a decent streamer against the Brewers this weekend.

Ranger Suarez is making a return to the Philadelphia rotation Sunday, and as expected, Walker will be the odd-man out. “That doesn’t mean we’re not going to go to a six man at some point,” Thomson added. “But I think we’ll do a five man, at least till the next off day [after Monday].” Walker can be safely dropped in fantasy leagues, but might be worth consideration as a streamer if he gets another chance to start in the coming weeks.
