Dodgers designated RHP José Ureña.
The quintessential modern-era journeyman, Ureña has spent time briefly with the Mets, Blue Jays and Dodgers already this season. The well-traveled 33-year-old’s stint with Los Angeles is over after just a pair of relief appearances since June 3. He’ll presumably elect free agency and wind up somewhere else in a swingman-type role.
Dodgers signed RHP José Ureña to a one-year contract.
Ureña heads to Los Angeles as long relief depth for the club’s overworked bullpen, which leads the majors with a staggering 255 innings pitched through 60 games. The 33-year-old journeyman righty has posted a pedestrian 5.87 ERA across 15 1/3 innings (seven appearances, two starts) this season between the Blue Jays and Mets.
José Ureña is signing a major league deal with the Dodgers, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.
Ureña can eat innings for a Dodgers club with an incredible 15 pitchers on the injured list. It’ll be Ureña’s third team this season after stints with the Mets (15.00 ERA in three innings) and Blue Jays (3.65 ERA in 12 1/3 innings).
Blue Jays RHP José Ureña has elected free agency.
Ureña will test the free agent waters rather than accept an outright assignment to Triple-A Buffalo after passing through waivers unclaimed. The 33-year-old journeyman was removed from Toronto’s 40-man roster over the weekend after posting a serviceable 3.65 ERA across 12 1/3 innings (six appearances, two starts).
