Springer’s numbers have really fallen off in recent weeks, but his batted-ball metrics have held steadier and indicated that he shouldn’t be given up on in mixed leagues just yet. He has three homers in three days now, though bad pitching from the A’s has certainly played a role there. Addison Barger and Bo Bichette also homered in this one, and the Jays have racked up 31 runs against the A’s the last three days.

Springer started 14 straight games from May 2-17, but now that his fast start has evaporated, he’s doing some sitting. Springer is 2-for-29 in his last 10 games, and Sunday’s 0-for-3 dropped his OPS under .800 for the first time since the fourth day of the season. He was still over .900 as recently as May 14. The Jays are going with a Nathan Lukes-Daulton Varsho-Anthony Santander outfield today and giving Vladimir Guerrero Jr. a mini-break by using him at DH.

Springer broke the game open with his 416-foot three-run shot off of Bryce Miller in the fifth inning, extending the Jays’ lead to 5-1. He also singled and scored on an RBI single by Nathan Lukes in the seventh inning. The 35-year-old outfielder has found the fountain of youth this season, slashing .297/.404/.517 with five homers, 18 RBI and five stolen bases.

Springer put the Blue Jays on the board early, taking Tyler Anderson deep for two-run blast in the first inning. He later singled in the eighth for his second hit of the day. The 35-year-old outfielder is having an excellent bounce-back season so far, slashing .316/.419/.541 with four homers, 15 RBI, and five steals across 119 plate appearances.
