Jacob deGrom tossed seven scoreless innings with eight strikeouts in a win over the Nationals on Saturday.
deGrom put together his best start of the season, looking as dominant as ever with seven scoreless innings against the Nationals. He allowed just two hits and zero walks while collecting eight strikeouts on 15 whiffs. The 36-year-old right-hander ends the day with a brilliant 2.12 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and a 74/17 K/BB ratio across 76 1/3 innings. He’ll take on the Twins in Minnesota on Thursday.
Jacob deGrom allowed one run in six innings and got the win in the Rangers’ 8-1 victory over the Cardinals on Sunday.
Jacob deGrom (finger) will start on Sunday against the Cardinals.
There was reason for concern earlier this week when deGrom exited Monday’s outing against the Blue Jays with a potential finger issue. However, the 36-year-old ace has been cleared to take the ball on Sunday afternoon. It’s unclear whether he’ll have any workload limitations after throwing just 81 pitches earlier this week, but it’s a variable that fantasy managers should monitor.
Jacob DeGrom exited his start Monday against the Blue Jays with an apparent finger issue after allowing two runs in 5 1/3 innings.
DeGrom was shown looking at the finger a couple of times towards the end of the outing, indicating that he was dealing with a blister or a nail issue. He threw 81 pitches before exiting, so the outing was winding down anyway. He actually went without a strikeout in the game, as he got just three misses on 36 swings. It’s the first time that’s ever happened in his 229 career starts. His velocity wasn’t bad, though; his 96.5 mph average on his fastball was down 0.6 mph from his season average.
