2025 Player Outlook
Freeman remains one of the most productive first basemen in the league despite entering his age-35 season. He still possesses elite plate skills, with a walk rate above 12 percent and a strikeout rate below 16 percent. Freeman did experience some regression in the power department last season, posting a slugging percentage below .500 for the first time in nine seasons. But his premium lineup spot in the most potent offense in baseball should afford him plenty of opportunities to both drive in and score runs.
Player News
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters that Freddie Freeman is currently dealing with a quad injury.
Freeman is playing through the injury, but Roberts noted that the infielder won’t be able to run 100 percent. The 35-year-old has been in the lineup every day for close to two months since returning from the injured list, and as long as there’s no setback, it sounds like he’ll be able to play through this ailment.
Freddie Freeman is not in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Mets.
Freeman will get the series finale against the Mets off. The 35-year-old will get a breather with Enrique Hernandez handling first base against southpaw David Peterson.
Freddie Freeman went 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run scored against the Mets on Tuesday.
Freeman put the Dodgers on the board with a double in the first inning to bring home a run before scoring on a groundout. His next hit came in the bottom of the tenth. With two runners on and one out, he doubled off the left field wall to drive in the game-winning run. The 35-year-old first baseman is hitting an incredible .369/.435/.626 with nine homers, 34 runs scored, and 40 RBI across 214 plate appearances.
Freddie Freeman (ankle) is in the lineup for Saturday’s showdown against the Yankees.
It’s worth noting that Freeman isn’t sitting out after appearing to be in some discomfort during Friday’s rematch of last year’s Fall Classic. The 35-year-old fantasy stalwart will have to play through lingering issues with his surgically-repaired right ankle, but it doesn’t appear that he’s going to miss any time after possibly aggravating the issue again.
