Marte opened the scoring in the top half of the first inning, crushing an 0-2 changeup from Spencer Strider for a majestic 445-foot (109.3 mph EV) solo shot. He victimized Strider once again in the third inning, that time a 371-foot (113.2 mph EV) two-run blast that increased the Diamondbacks’ advantage to 4-0. The 31-year-old superstar also drew a pair of walks in the ballgame, reaching base safely in all five of his plate appearances. On the season, he’s now slashing a robust .294/.417/.597 with 10 homers, 16 RBI and a pair of stolen bases in his first 143 plate appearances.

Marte returned to Arizona’s lineup following a two-game absence due to illness. The 31-year-old has battled through some physical issues this season, but he’s remained an elite fantasy contributor, when he’s been out there.

Marte sat out each of the team’s previous two games due to illness. He got an extra day to rest with the off-day on Thursday and is now apparently back and ready to go. He’ll start at second base and bat second for the Diamondbacks against Jake Irvin and the Nationals on Friday evening in Arizona.
