2025 Player Outlook

Believe it or not, Buxton has hit 17 or more home runs in each of the last four seasons, but he's played in more than 95 games in just one of those seasons. There's been some pretty crazy fluctuation in his batting average over the last four seasons, but the high barrel rate and hard contact have remained prevalent each and every season. He's going to miss time, but that trip to the IL is more than baked into his cost. His 162-game pace over the last four seasons would see him hit 39 home runs, steal 15 bases, and notch 86 RBI. The talent and tools are there, and he may only need 100 games to hit 25 home runs and steal 10 bases, which makes him an intriguing pick outside the top 200 overall. The risk is sky high, but the potential reward is even higher.

Byron Buxton went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run, a double, a walk, and a stolen base in a 6-2 win over the Rangers on Wednesday.

Buxton did it all from the lead-off spot in this game. His homer – which was scalded at 111.6 mph and traveled and outrageous 479 feet – quickly vaulted the Twins ahead after they’d fallen behind 2-0 early. He never gave the Rangers’ pitchers a moment of peace by reaching base in each of his ensuing plate appearances too. This is some of the most consistent baseball Buxton has played in a long time. Just please stay healthy.

Byron Buxton went 2-for-6 with two RBI and also stole a base on Friday against the Mariners in his return to the lineup.

The encouraging development here for the Twins, and fantasy managers, is that Buxton looked like himself in this one after spending two weeks on the concussion injured list following a scary collision with teammate Carlos Correa. He picked up his ninth stolen base of the season out of the leadoff spot and should continue as Minnesota’s primary table-setter moving forward.

Twins activated CF Byron Buxton from the 7-day injured list.

It looks like Matt Wallner will have to wait one more day to be activated, as Buxton takes the spot opened up by Carson McCusker’s demotion. Buxton, who didn’t play in any rehab games, missed two weeks as a result of the collision between him and Carlos Correa that left both with head injuries.
